“Fantastic!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2007

It was great. clean, set up really nice with lots of room, amazing price, super location... the bed was AMAZING and so were the pillows. i was so glad we stayed here and i would definitely stay here again.

the other reviews that are negative about this place, well i guess like always, its hit or miss with most places... but we lucked out completely.

i can see what people mean about the rooms being a little worn in, the tub had a little bit of peeling and cracks in the walls in the bathroom, but nothing major, i only noticed the walls because i bent down to pick up a towel...

arlington is a really really nice area, too... very nice at night, theres a bunch of restaurants and a metro station... food store... tons of diversity in dc area, its great...

  • Liked — spacious, cheap, location, cleanliness
  • Disliked — nothing , was great really

Sour, cold, unfriendly & snotty service by young lady at reception on arrival. She did not even reply when I greeted her “Good afternoon”. When I asked her if breakfast was included, she said “No, you booked through Expedia”. Then on asking if Internet access was free, she replied “It is complimentary” like as if I had wrongly used the word “free”. Good & friendly hotel service is so very important to guests. Kitchen ill-equipped with few cooking utensils though sufficient pots & pans, dishes & cutlery¸ no dining table in studio suite. No refreshments in lobby though advertised. Quite far from nearest metro as no shuttle at weekends.

However, on the good side, nice to have safe in room, big working desk with 2 chairs, big TV & coffee table.

I have stayed in many hotels this year -- ranging from first class places to extreme budget lodging. This hotel wins for the combination of snotty non-service and really run down accomodations. Peeling paint, bubbling wallpaper, chipped tile and dirty stained carpets await you here.

The 'high-speed' internet is essentially nonfunctioning with the exception of some of the rooms which have an ethernet connection. I had to change rooms twice. In one of the rooms, the bathtub clogged and it was 'fixed' by some engineer dumping something in the tub, leaving a mess and then a sulfery stench that wafted all the way down the hall to the elevator. The smell was so strong that people several doors down were complaining.

The front desk seemed puzzled as to why I would want to change rooms after that. Unfortunately the next room was simply as run down and dismal as the last. This hotel is way past needing renovations and I wouldn't wish this stay on my enemies.

AVOID!

The hotel is OK for the price ranging from $99 to 199 per night based on nightly rates, but some things you should know before you book.

The hotel is remodelled but is pretty old. It is OK, but you can see the age showing in the cracks in the details of the kitchen, paint, and some decor. Air conditioning was a bit loud when it cycled on.

About the cost. You will pay for parking, its not included. Not too much but you don't find this out until you check out.

Location is good as it was walking distance (a few blocks) from a Metro station. Hotel claims no crime problem or dangers walking and we agree we did not have any problems walking about during our 4 days there. We also walked to the Iwo Jima monument which is quite close by.

You have to pay $6 per head for continental breakfast if you did not book through the hotel. I booked through Travelocity and was informed that the perks didn't come with their package. Found we were a bit of a red headed stepchild because of booking through Travelocity and saving 50 bucks.

Hotel cleaning ladies were very freindly, but forgot to replace coffee, and towels one day. The brought them to us when we asked.

Anyway now you know more than we did when we booked. Would I go back? Maybe, but I would probably look elsewhere first because there is such a variety of places to stay in DC and Arlington.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2007

We arrived mid-afternoon on August 4th for a 7 day stay. We were pre-paid through Hotels.com so our registration took 3 minutes. The room was just as we expected with queen size bed and love seat/sleeper, occasional chair that we used at the table since there were three of us and only two dining chairs. Kitchen was small but completely stocked. The only kitchen issue was that the cookware wasn't non-stick so scrubbing pans was necessary and no scouring pads available. Two closet, one walk-in that led to the bathroom that included a chest of drawers. Plenty of room for the three of us (mom and two teenagers), but I would recommend the one-bedroom for a family of four. As mentioned in previous reviews the towels were large and abundant and replaced within 10 minutes of request to front desk. I can't say I looked under the bed for dust or dirt. The pool was the best feature especially since it was sooo hot the week we were there. Even though it was outside, in the mid afternoon, half of the pool area was tree shaded. The shuttle to the metro during morning and afternoon rush hours and also to the grocery store was greatly appreciated. With the kitchen available, lack of continental breakfast wasn't a problem. Highly recommend peapod grocery delivery directly to your room. There are also laundy facilities available. Definately would stay again.
