“2 Room Suite is a Deal!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 7, 2009

Went to see the sights in DC with my family (wife & 2 small kids) plus my father. We got a 2-room suite: me & wife in one room, dad in another, kids on the pull-out couch. It was a huge savings compared to purchasing two separate rooms.

The hotel was what you'd expect from a Residence Inn: clean and well run. I'm sure there are fancier places, but for the price it is a great deal for business or family travel. This hotel was close to the Metro station (you could walk or the shuttle will drop you off / pick you up). The free breakfast buffet was great. The free drinks and snacks at happy hour couldn't be beat.

All in all I highly recommend it.

Tip #1: If you stay there to see the sights in DC you don't need to rent a car. The hotel will take you to and from the airport. They will take you to and from the Metro station.

Tip #2: Put their phone number in your cell phone. That way you can call for a pickup when you land at the airport. Also you can call for a pickup at the Metro station if you don't want to walk back to the hotel.

Just got back from DC a few days ago. This hotel is across the highway from the Pentagon, and they will shuttle you the 3 blocks to the Metro stop, though we usually walked it. It is a very quick Metro ride to the National Mall. In contrast to a previous reviewer, I thought the front desk staff were quite friendly. Strangely, the pool did not open until 5 PM each day...apparently a lifeguard shortage, and then one day it was closed completely because some diaperless kid did a number in it. The swimmer in our group was not happy. Breakfast does get boring, but it's on site, included in the cost, and it gets you out the door and going. The social hour fare is very light, not enough to count for dinner, but there is complimentary wine... a nice touch. We had a problem with the oven in our room, and they came right up to take care of it. The hotel provided a wheelchair for my Dad for 2 days to use in DC for no charge.Overall, the strong point of this hotel is that 5 people can stay comfortably in one suite in a very convenient location. I would definitely stay here again.

I stayed here for three weeks for work Feb-March 2009. Parking was $18 day, perhaps a bit expensive for some people (but my work paid for it). The hotel and room seemed clean with no problems. There is a small fitness center (basically a few treadmills and free weights), but you can use the Bally's a block away for free. There is free breakfast daily (although the same items every day got boring), and a free light dinner and drinks some nights but I did not go to the dinner after the first night when the food was very bland. The free shuttle will take you to/from the airport and surrounding few blocks/mall area. The location is great, only about two blocks or so from a Metro stop and from an upscale mall with some restaurants. While the hotel was not a bad place to have to stay for three weeks, the staff was often hit-or-miss. There was one lady who was always so nice to me and would say hi when I walked through the lobby. But the other staff was sometimes very hard to deal with -- especially their somewhat lacking English speaking skills. Overall, I would say the hotel is not bad for an extended stay, but don't expect excellent staff service.

We love this hotel! The location is extremely convenient with a metro stop, shopping, restaurants and more only a five minute walk away (and if it’s raining the hotel shuttle can get you there for free). The rooms are adequately sized with everything you need for an extended stay, and there are several laundry rooms at the hotel. Breakfast is provided, as are evening meals Monday through Wednesday. You’ll have to settle for popcorn and ice cream sundaes on Thursday evening, however. Of course, this is not 4-star cuisine we’re talking here, but at the end of a long day, if somebody else is cooking and cleaning up for me, I’m not one to complain. My only quibble is that at check-in they would not include our toddler son on our meal ticket (which meant that he could not get his own serving at dinner). Very weird, especially since they seem to treat kids well otherwise; the front desk staff gave him some toys during our stay. Nevertheless, due to the generally friendly staff, the good location and the very good value, we don’t have plans to stay anywhere else on our future trips.

We spent 3 nights in a 2 bedroom suite. The service from the front desk, housekeeping, shuttle drivers, busboys at the free breakfast, and even the computer support were extremely friendly and effiecient. We couldn't have been happier! The room was huge and there was plenty of storage space. The room was immaculate and comfortable with great televisions in each room. We were on the 16th floor and it was very quiet. The free breakfast was decent, not exceptional, but certainly many choices. The shuttle was very handy bringing us to close by locations, but it was raining and we did not want to walk. The pool/hottub was nice and they even had a lifeguard on duty. The location is about a 5 minute walk to the Metro station. Overall this hotel exceeded our expectations with their friendly service and numerous amenities.

All the good things others have said, with a few drawbacks:
- The Internet connection becomes unusable when there are many guests trying to use it. I wasted lots of time with the tech support and hotel people before they finally admitted this is a chronic problem for them. So, don't count on your connection being there except at odd times of the day.
- The breakfast room was marred by a TV so loud that all the tables near it remained empty while people huddled in the corner to get away. This went on every day. Fortunately, they provide trays so you can take the food to your room. Why do hotels defer to the people who must have noise all the time, at the expense of the rest of us?

That said, I would come back because of the location and convenience.

We stayed here on our visit to Washington, D.C. in September 2008. We really enjoyed this hotel. Good location - only 2 blocks from Metro and if you don't want to walk, they have a shuttle that will drop you off and pick you up. Make sure to tip the driver - it's worth it. Good breakfast every day and meal during the weekdays. Room was clean. Nice hotel.

Will definitely stay there again on return trip.
