“Convenient location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2011

We stayed here on the advice of a friend. We had a nearby party to attend. We needed a ride back from the party because the taxis weren't able to pick us up. There was a group of us that needed a ride back to the hotel and the hour was late. The hotel was nice enough to make a couple of trips with their shuttle service to accommodate us as we were stranded. The suite was very nice that we stayed in as was the buffet breakfast.

We traveled to DC for my mother-in-law's burial at Arlington in July. This hotel is in such a great location....right across the street from the Pentagon, close to the Metro, and a couple of blocks from a shopping mall that has anything you could possibly want. The hotel shuttle happily took us to the mall and actually can travel in any direction for a mile if you find something you'd like to see.

The front desk was super accommodating and very warm and friendly...we were able to check in to our rooms early after a tiring drive fighting the traffic. Our room had everything you could want...living area, comfortable bed, bath, and small kitchen with full-size refrigerator and small stove and microwave. If you are on the right side of the hotel, you will be able to view the Capitol Building and the Washington Monument as well as the Pentagon from your room.

Your stay includes a full daily breakfast with fresh hot and cold choices and fruit every morning and an evening dinner (weekdays only) with free beer and wine. Yes, that's right, free beer and wine!

The best part? For a government rate, you really can't do better in Washington. Our stay was $157 a night, great for the DC area since it is so close to all the areas most visitors want to see. I don't know what the charges are for a stay with other discounts like AAA or AARP, but we thought this was a good deal for our family.

One hitch was the charge for parking in the garage attached to the hotel. ...$21 a night. However, if you've traveled much, you are probably used to paying for parking at hotels in major tourist areas, and this was pretty much what most places will charge. Just don't forget to include that charge when you are estimating your bill! Also, if you're driving a large vehicle, plan on parking carefully..it's tight. But we were impressed with the security of the garage and the quick access to the elevator in the hotel.

Room for improvement....well, yes, but nothing that would make me not want to stay here again. The air conditioning was adequate but I prefer a very cold room, and with the heat in Washington that week at 100 degrees and above, it was struggling to meet the temperatures I preferred. (This might have been because we had a west facing room, also.) But it was sufficiently cool according to the rest of my family and was not enough of an issue to request a change in room. The bed was comfortable, but the bath was a little small. Don't look for the latest decor, but it certainly wasn't ugly.

Many of the area restaurants, including such places as the Cheesecake Factory, will deliver to your room. There is a booklet in your room with all of the possible dining choices in the area and the phone numbers to call. Very convenient and easy.

Though it was a sad reason for us to be there, we did enjoy our brief stay and would certainly recommend this hotel for any travelers to DC.

Just got back from our trip to DC - this hotel is in a perfect location - right across from the Pentagon and with in two blocks to the metro - and if you don't feel like walking to the metro or any place with in a mile, there is a free hotel shuttle! Plenty of restaurants and a mall with in two blocks - a lot of gov't employees live here so there are many of the conveniences of home! The Staff went out of their way to make our stay comfortable - I have never experienced such fast service - I asked for a rollaway - it was in my room within minutes, I asked for help with hooking up to the internet - computer tech came to my room with in minutes! We did not know the area - they made restaurant recommendations that fit our budget and diet restrictions - I have no complaints - HUGE buffet breakfast every morning, managers reception some evenings (it's a meal!), we stayed in a two bedroom suite with two bathrooms...there were five of us - my husband and myself, my 16 and 12 year old and my Mom...plenty of room - we will definitely stay here when we go back! They even comp'd our parking fee and fee for roll away...EXCELLENT hotel!

This was one of two Residence Inns I stayed at in the DC area. The staff was nice and the breakfast and dinners were good. The location is okay-- about a five minute walk to the Pentagon City metro. There is also a Bally's that you can get a free pass to from the front desk (the hotel also has its own fitness room, but it's small). There is a Costco and a mall very close by, but overall the neighborhood is fairly charmless. The building is extremely large and is starting to show its age. Ask to stay far from the elevators (from my room I could hear them make a squealing type sound all through the night-- and with so many guests they never stop running). Bed was a queen, not a king. In the rooms Internet was wired, not wireless. Only two public washers/dryers for the entire building. It's not a bad property by any stretch, it's just that in such a saturated/competitive market there are better options out there.

Room Tip: Elevators are loud-- request a room far away from them.

The Residence Inn at Pentagon City has the most friendly, helpful staff of any hotel I've ever visited ... and I have been to quite a few. I made three requests during my four-week stay, and each request was fulfilled within twenty minutes. The shuttle was prompt and reliable.

Also, the hotel is located within two blocks of a very nice mall and grocery store.
There is a metro stop at the mall for the blue and yellow lines. There is also a UPS store and post office nearby. If you don't want to walk, the shuttle will drop you off or pick you up from locations within a one-mile radius of the hotel.

The free breakfast was delicious, and there are decent evening meals served Monday-Wednesday from 5 to 7, along with free beer and wine. On Thursday night they serve free ice cream with assorted toppings.

I highly recommend this hotel to others, and plan to stay there on future business trips.

Stayed here while visiting DC for the Cherry Blossoms.

Housekeeping: Efficient
-Pool/Gym: Nice and Clean, but pool had limited hours due to 'lifeguard' limited hours. Pool was also busy as this was more of a family oriented hotel.
-Staff: Friendly, efficient and very helpful. Mr. Pena was exceptional.
-Breakfast: abundant, but with the large guest capactity it had difficulty keeping up with the demand. People had to wait for the food as it ran out quickly, the hotel shoud review it's kitchen capactiy to ensure the demand can be met. It ended at 9AM which left alot of families with our breakfast, especially those wtih young children and it was a shame that the staff didnt' make exceptions or maybe extend the time.
-Manager's reception: the hotel offered 'snacks' in the afternoon which was nice for the families, including ice cream and fresh popped popcorn.

Location: was a bit of a hike to DC, but we did take the Metro which was fine. The hotel is located in a 'subdivision' that included other residentials and stores including the Pentagon City mall. Food was limited to the few chain restaurants in the area.

I would stay here again.

Rooms are spacious, clean linen, kitchen, microwave, coffee maker. The staff always answers your questions or concerns with a smile, great value for all the amenities. Great views of the city from the room we had assigned. They work with you for an early check in, one block from pentagon City Metro Station. Close to the Pentagon City Mall. Always felt welcomed. Congratulations!!!!
