“Awe Inspring”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013 via mobile

The Marine Corps Memorial located very near Arlington National Cemetery is truly one of our nations treasures. One of the largest memorials in the Washington area and standing on rock that actually came from Mt. Suribachi where the Marines and one Navy Corpsman fought one of the bloodiest battles in the Pacific. It is truly a sight you so not want to miss

“Very moving memorial”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

Was surprised how large this memorial was, its very impressive and very moving. The memorial is modeled on real marines who fought on Iwo Jima, Having watched the mini series "Pacific" i now realize what horrors they went through to achieve their goal. Around the base of the memorial are plaques naming all the "conflicst" marines have been involved in. This was the first memorial visited by us on our trip to Washington and it set the tone for all the other wonderful memorials, as its on the edge of Arlington Cemetery its even more poignant. Well worth seeing.

“U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

This is a very moving Memorial, depicting the raising of the flag on Iwo Jima during World War II. Three of those raising the flag died on Iwo Jima. If you can get far enough up the hill behind the Memorial, you'll see how it lines up with the Lincoln Memorial, the Washington Monument and the Capitol. Don't miss this.

“One of the best views of Washington D.C. at Night”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

During certain times of the year (usually summer) the Marines hold a concert here once a week with the Band and their Silent Drill team...it is one of the most amazing events you could ever hope to attend...tickets are free..I believe you can get detailed information on their web site. The memorial itself is dramatic and inspiring, to truly appreciate it you must get out of your car and walk up to the statue..driving around the circle will not do it total justice.

Seeing the Iwa Jima memorial in person is not to be missed! Its sheer size is remarkable and has to be seen up close.
