I am totally ambivalent about this hotel. They try to do everything, but they do very little well.I met terrific employees who were very helpful and interested in your comfort. I met others who could care less. They offer wireless in your room (for a price). Ours was worse than dial up and when I called the front desk to ask about it, the guy who answered couldn't wait to get off the phone with me as he transferred me to the ATT help desk which, of course, put me on hold and a long wait. Needless to say, I hung up and dealt with a lousy signal for my entire stay. I paid for a "continental" breakfast each morning. It was terrible! Cold pancakes one day (none the next). Bagels and bread for toast with one 4-slice toaster which was broken and only worked on one side. BTW- they never replaced it my entire stay so it's obvious no one is paying much attention. The room was nice, but once again, they couldn't really get it right. Only two towels in the bathroom. When you sat on the foot of the bed, the entire mattress would tilt up as if it was going to flip. The property itself looks a couple years away from renewal. Paint bad here and there, only one (of two) elevators working.... apparently they were fixing the other (maybe) so trips in the elevator usually required you to pack a lunch. Sorry.... but this hotel just isn't done well. Like I said. They try to do everything but they really fall short on most of it. One thing- surprisingly enough.... the restaurant/bar is very good. Food is reasonable and quite good. Bartender is friendly and pours a good drink. Wonder if I could have slept on one of the booths there........ Oh well...... I'll be looking elsewhere next trip.

This is a great place to stay when visiting Washington DC. The hotel has great rooms and good service. It is a little out of the way in that it sits just between King st. and the Reagan National. It is a walk to get anywhere from here. If you don't mind that then it is perfect. It is a 15 min walk to nearest metro and about the same to get to King street with its cafes and shops. It is really best in spring and summer when the weather is good. I would not recommend it for a winter stay, you won't be able to enjoy Old town so much since it is a good walk away. The hotel does offer shuttles to airport and metro which are great a everything is just minutes away. The best part is you don't have to fight traffic cause you are just a step away from the airport and just across the bridge from DC. If you have a car you can't beat this hotel for comfort and easy. Do stay here.

My main interest in hotels are cleanliness and bedding comfort. Several years ago we stayed in a Sheraton was in Seattle and I thought the mattresses were the most comfortable I'd ever slept in. For numerous reasons we haven't managed to stay in another Sheraton since then, so I was excited to get a great deal for the one night we wanted to stay in a hotel in Alexandria. Imagine my disappointment upon finding that the beds were hard and the sheets were like cardboard - thick, probably cotton, but not good quality. And it seemed like there may have been a plastic cover on the mattress. I appreciate that hotels may put sanitary covers on, but there are good ones that are not crinkly, and bad ones that are. Also, the bedskirt trailed on the floor and clearly had been damaged.

Other than that, the furniture was a little run down and outlets near the bed were inconvenient. Staff were nice enough but we were only there one night and didn't require anything other than check in.

On the whole I would not choose a Sheraton again.

We stayed at this hotel last year and loved it. When I called over a month before we arrived I asked for room with a view of the Potomac River like we had last time. Upon our arrival I asked the front desk clerk if we had the view and she said no but we were in a corner room on the 8th floor. It turned out that our view was of a huge construction site with a very large crane swinging near our window throughout the day. OK, so forget the view but the rug in our bedroom did not fit up against the wall and had stringers of thread going over the bathroom threshold. The vent above the shower was black in the corners and the shower light was falling off on one side! The small table in front of the sofa was nicked and scratched. We got up to make coffee in the morning using their one cup pot and there was 1 regular packet and 1 decaf packet. This is supposed to be a suite so why just 1 of each. Maybe I am forgetting but I thought that when you hang the green sign on the door that means don't wash the linens and towels but come in and make the bed and clean up. They did not clean the room or make the bed. On our last visit all of the people who worked at the hotel were very, very nice and attentive but this trip no one, including the person who checked us out, even asked how our stay was. The lobby looks beautiful but they are definitely neglecting the rooms. Too much money for what?? We will not go there again!
