“Great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 10, 2012

This was a trip to take advantage of the wonderful bike trails around the Washington DC area. This hotel is located in a perfect spot about mid-way on the Mount Vernon trail. Eleven miles from Mount Vernon and 9 miles from DC. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. The do offer a shuttle service to and from the Olde Town Restaurant/Shopping District, but it really is just a short walk. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. The swimming pool and spa area was also very clean and was a great place to relax and unwind after a long day of biking.

Wow, thanks so much for your comments. I couldn't have said it any better. Old Town is a great place and gives you the convenience of the city but the feel of the suburbs. For Bikers you cannot beat our access to the Potomac River biking trails. Thanks again and we hope to see you again soon!

This hotel is perfectly adequate, particularly for business travelers. The location is fantastic in the heart of Old Town Alexandria. Service was professional and friendly. However, the rooms are a bit dated, particularly the bathrooms. Amenities that are often included in similarly priced hotels, such as bathrobes, complimentary bottled water, and free wireless internet, were either not available, or were only available at an additional charge. The spaciousness of the rooms, the in-room fridge and microwave, and the complimentary coffee and tea were all positives. Would stay again for the location, but travelers should note that this is really closer to a three-star than a four-star property.

Thank you very much for your comments. We always appreciate feedback both good and bad. This hotel has recently had an entire facelift with new carpeting in all guest rooms and corridors and all of our public space was redone including our restaurant, banquet rooms, lobby, lounge, and fitness room. The use of earthtones may cause people to feel it is dated but this is the style that our brand chose and we have received many positive comments. Regardless, we always respect our guest opinions. The fact that we show up as 4 star is not because of us but because of guests like you who continually rate us very well. The large suites, full service amenities, price value and gracious service is what makes the difference. Please do come visit us again so that we can demonstrate our commitment to your comfort.

Warmest Regards,

Steve W.

My husband and I stayed at the Sheraton Suites Old Town Alexandria mid-April for our Spring break vacation to Washington, DC to see the Cherry Blossoms. We have found our new home base for whenever we travel to DC; Sheraton Suites Old Town was AWESOME!

Below is an outline that covers it all:

Location - Sheraton Suites Old Town Alexandria is just off of Route 1 south of Washington, DC in Alexandria, VA (exit off of I-495). You are a very short Metro ride (or shuttle ride) to Reagan National Airport and are within a few block walk of the Braddock Road Metro Station. The area around the Sheraton is very quiet since you are not at the busy King Street district. Trader Joe's and Giant Supermarket are both one block away from the hotel. We never felt unsafe walking around even late in the evening.

Customer Service - from the front desk staff, housekeeping to the shuttle drivers, the customer service cannot be beat! Special thanks to Zach and Modesto who went the extra mile to ensure we enjoyed our stay. My husband was celebrating his 50th birthday. The Sheraton Suites Old Town provided a complimentary cake and bottle of wine (we returned the wine since we do not drink alcohol). How thoughtful and awesome it was for them to do this!

Accommodations - two-room suite, plenty of room for two adults, refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave all clean and in working order. Bathrooms were spotless, and our room was taken care of everyday. The room looked recently refurbished with new furniture and lamps. The only item that we could see that needed attention was the elevator; it was noisy.

Transportation/Parking - Hats off to Modesto and the other shuttle drivers who took care of us. There was never a time we had to wait more than 10 minutes for the shuttle to pick us up from the Metro station or King Street. The van drivers even gave us recommendations for great places to eat and things to see and do around Alexandria. We parked out SUV on the streets behind the hotel for free and could see it from our hotel window and had no problems. Warning: do not park by any street signs that say no parking or have restricted hours. Our last night we opted to park in the underground garage to make it easier for loading and departure.

Food - we picked the room and breakfast package and it was terrific! Every morning we were treated to a full buffet breakfast in the restaurant that included beverages and the breakfast was good and filling.

Overall - I would give this hotel an overall "VERY GOOD" rating. My husband and I have decided that this will be the only hotel we will stay at when visiting Washington, DC because of the cleanliness, location and GREAT customer service. Again, thank you Sheraton Suites Old Town, our new Home Base for DC!

Room Tip: Join Starwood travelers program to accumulate points and access to the Club floors. Awesome benefit...

Stay at the hotel or one day 4/24 after a flight cancellation. It was very clean great room layout, large bed with pullout bed pently of room for 4 people . Hotel was close to shops and restaurants. Very good customer service. In house restaurant was nice little pricey but filled all of my request without a problem. In store is tiny just some candy nd chips. Great location for site seeing and historical sites.free airport shuttle to Ronald Reagan airport. Room was overpriced for $300 per night.

Room Tip: Stay at another hotel to save money

Sorry to hear about your flight being cancelled but glad you found your way to the Sheraton Suites Old Town. We are very close to the airport and have the shuttle to pick you up so we are very popular in the area. Unfortunately the hotel was just about full so our rates were hgher than usual but often times they can be much lower with more advance notice. Thanks so much for staying with us and for your comments. We hope the next time you can spend it with us for much longer than a quick overnight emergency.

Warmest Regards,

Steve W.

This hotel was not my first choice, but since it was the Cherry blossom festival in Wash. D.C. it was the best available.
The location is great.
It is outside of D.C. but they have a shuttle to the metro station and to downtown Alexandria, and you can get away from the big city for awhile and walk through historic Alexandria.
The rooms are very nice, not as big as some suites I've stayed in but plenty big and very comfortable.
Overall it was a very pleasant surprise.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the elevators.

Thank you very much for your comments. We agree, staying in Old Town is often a better solution than staying in the big city and our rates tend to be more reasonable. This hotel is often a big surprise because many people forget that this Sheraton has all Suites and they are much larger than standard rooms for the same price. Glad to hear you had a nice visit and hope to see you again soon!!!

Stayed in a suite with a family of 5 back in February. While a little tight for 2 adults and 3 children, it was only for the long President's weekend. The rooms were very clean and the staff at the front desk was very nice. When we checked in, they had nicely upgraded us to a king suite, but that didn't work for us with the 3 teenagers. The staff found another room for us quickly and things worked out fine.

The hotel is in walking distance of a number of restaurants and the restaurant in the hotel has an excellent breakfast. Since we needed to drive into DC for our activities, we did not use the Metro, but that is also close by if you decide to go that way. The parking for the hotel is covered and secure although pricey for the day. I would think the hotel would discount the parking slightly, but maybe that will be something they can do in the future.

Otherwise this was a great place to stay.

Room Tip: King Suite is nice for a couple. The double bed suites while able to sleep 5, are still limited on s...

Thanks so much for your review and comments. I am glad you had a nice visit and that we could accommodate your family. Coming from a family of 6 I know how hard it is to travel these days and fit everyone in one place. I am glad we have the suites that worked out. Please do visit us again and next time we hope to earn a 5 star rating!!!
