Conveniently located with view of water front, walking distance to Old Town Alexandria. Well maintained rooms with friendly staff, good food and good bar. Very near to Reagon airport. Taxi costs only $12.

Had to be one of the better places to stay for the money, very clean and service oriented. They had shuttle service to the airport and the old town area. But the motel is an easy walk of approx. 6 blocks from the old town area.
when we checked in the front desk guy "Roland" asked a few questions about our trip and made reservations for us at the Chart House Restaurant...very cool ....because our menus where specialy printed to acknowledge the birthday we where in town celebrating....if that is not service, then I apparently don't know anything about it

Room Tip: decent water view on the river side on the upper floors

I stayed 4 nights for a conference. My room was clean. It had 2 full sized beds and a refrigerator. There is a Giant grocery store 2 blocks away, so it was nice to have the refrigerator. There are several restaurants within walking distance.

There is a free shuttle to King Street and the airport. The King Street shuttle runs every hour, and the airport shuttle every 30 minutes. The King Street shuttle drops you off 14 blocks from the King Street Metro stop. There is a free trolly that runs along King Street that you can take to the Metro. When we arrived at the airport, we called for a shuttle and were waiting with a large group who were attending the conference. When the shuttle arrived, what appeared to be a large family with no luggage jumped on the shuttle and there was not enough room for 3 of us who had been waiting longer. Thankfully, the hotel did send a second shuttle for us. We later learned that guests will get off the Metro at the airport and catch the airport shuttle rather than navigating King Street.

Unfortunately, the shutle stops at 10:30, and the area restaurants and hotel restaurant all close by 10pm. The front desk staff do have menus for restaurants that will deliver to the hotel.

For the money, I think I would choose a hotel with a better location.

I agree with other reviewers, this is a good location for getting from Reagan Airport and exploring old town Alexandria. It's 10 minutes by their free shuttle from the a/p and 8 short block walk to Old Town. The staff seemed bored and tired and were not very familiar with the area, particularly restaurants. I was given a tourist map and little other advice. There weren' many good restaurants in a short walking distance anyway, I discovered, although there is a convenient full service grocery 3 blocks away and the room I had included a refrigerator. Bed was comfortable, room clean and the view of the Potomoc River was expansive. The price was great for the area. There were tennis courts across the street and walking trails all around.

Stayed at the hotel for a week long conference that was on site. When I first arrived I found a spa sample packet on my pillow (pillow spray, foot cream, and a relaxation facial cream). It's a small touch, but very welcoming after traveling all day.

My room was clean, and the bed was comfortable. There is an air conditioner unit by the window, but the temperature control is on the opposite wall. There were several people at the conference who I over heard saying they were cold and couldn't get the buttons on the unit to work (they didn't find the temperature control pad on the wall!).

Housekeeping kept the room tiddy, the complimentary toiletries stocked, and linens clean. The large picture window overlooking the Potomac was nice. The only thing in my room that I had a problem with was the mini refrigerator, which was just below room temperature.

I did not dine at the hotel restaurant, but there are many nice eateries in easy walking distance. Just behind the hotel is a beautiful walking trail through nicely kept and safe parks along the rivers edge. If you don't want to walk, the hotel offers a free shuttle to the King Street area and to/from the airport. That was an excellent bonus, as so many hotels no longer offer shuttle service.

This is the second time in the last two years that I have stayed in this hotel.
The hotel is clean and well presented. The rooms were clean and spacious. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful.

The hotel is located a short walk to a grocery store, Thai, Mexican and Italian restaurants. I have tried them all and have great food, service and family friendly.

Only one this disappointed me with the hotel. No free wifi in the room. $10 per 24hrs.

Overall I would highly recommend this hotel and look forward to staying again.

The biggest problem with this hotel seems to be the management:

Pros: Location-price-shuttle service from Reagan Airport. Nice rooms.

Cons: Management is cheap and it shows: The fire alarm rang 0406; fortunately a false alarm. But no one knew it was a false alarm, so we evacuated. Upon reaching the outside it was mass confusion; people milling around, wandering in-out of the lobby. Only 1 (one!!) hotel employee; the desk clerk, who was busy fielding phone calls from guests wondering if there was a fire or not, and 1 rent-a-security cop who had no clue what to do. His role seemed to be to watch the desk clerk answer the phone, instead of going outside and controlling the guests.

Another guest and I asked him what was happening; he told us it was a false alarm, and the FD would arrive shortly to turn off the alarm - and would we tell the guests? We did.

1-Why no automatic voice mail telling everyone who dialed 'O' "Please evacuate-this is not a drill"? This could be linked up with the fire alarm system, or a button the desk clerk could trigger if necessary.

2-Why has management not trained the employees & security for such an event? If this was a real fire, the guest confusion could have been costly in lives and injuries.

3-Clearly management needs to hire some non-minimum wage level people for the night shift, or they need to seriously re-evaluate their employment requirements.

3A-We were told various stories the next day; drunk students, children playing (at 0406?); it seems to me the security guard needs to do more than stand in the corner....

...the next day some American Airline hostesses told us the guest noise was so bad on their floor that they asked for another room? Where was the security guard?

3B-At noon the next day, a different security guard was in the lobby-sitting and reading a newspaper. Oh my.

Would we stay there again? If the price was right, maybe, but only on a close-to-the-ground floor.

Room Tip: for safety reasons, floors 1-4

Dear Andew I,

Thank you for your valuable feedback. Your experience is important to us. The safety of our guest is paramount. We do have procedures in place for an actual emergency that all our desk agents are trained and aware of, however we are reassessing the procedures with the hired security company and their role in accompanying these emergency procedures. We will share your comments with our managers to make improvements. We strive towards the goal that each guest has a great overall experience. We regret we didn't accomplish that goal. We're sorry you did not receive a relaxing and comfortable sleep due to the false alarms. We are sorry to hear you may not stay with us in the future. We do hope you would reconsider staying again and afford us the ability to serve you better.
