I will say this is a very nice property right in the heart of Alexandria. The location made it easy for us to get around the area, and the only downside was that the property was more than just a walk to the Metro. Not a big deal, just something to keep in mind with little ones.

While my wife and I loved the room, and the setting in general, but it was not the idea location for a family with an infant or toddler. The property is not large and sprawling, so it made it challenging with a stroller and all the things that the parent of an infant or toddler need. Again, not a big deal, but something to be aware of. We adapt, so we were fine with it.

This hotel is a great location for the single mover, and it is a decent location for the family with little ones. All in all, it was a great stay that I probably would have enjoyed more when my wife and I were dating. Pretty pricey for a family, though. But it was a wedding, so sometimes that makes it all worth it. It is certainly a fun location, with lots to do around the hotel.

It is a dog hotel, so.......

Dear lammyleap,

Appreciate you staying with us while attending a wedding, and for taking the time to share you feedback here.

Thank you for the kind words regarding the hotel, and we do hope that you will come back whether it is for a getaway with your wife only, or you bring the little one again! Our Kid's hour each weekend, welcome amenities and dive-in movie night are some things that they could certainly enjoy next time!

Take care and Happy Holidays,

Matt

Great location, excellent amenities, good service, welcoming lobby, dog friendly....easy valet parking....only negative was loud music in the dining room for breakfast...but then perhaps I'm getting old and crabby..

Dear mbsplaine,

Don't be so hard on yourself! That music was way too loud, and I'm only a little bit old and crabby!

Thanks so much for this wonderful review, and for your business. We appreciate both!

Take care and Happy Holidays,

Matt

We had booked rooms here; then cancelled a few days before we arrived. When we got to town we found we needed the rooms again and showed up after 9 PM on Thanksgiving week. We had lots of luggage in support of our one and three year old daughters. The staff was more than accommodating, they were actively helpful and were eager to see we were satisfied. After six days we checked out to the smiles and good wishes of the day staff. The rooms were clean, the TVs were sharp, room service was prompt and the dining room was fun. Excellent experience.

What a homecoming! My awesome wife booked a night for us at the Monaco Alexandria the same day I came home after a 7-month deployment. The staff pulled out all the stops to make our stay truly spectacular, to include a special "welcome home" poster, champagne, and an outpouring of gratitude in the most dignified, classy way I could imagine. This is the place to trust your special occasions to!

We've had a wonderful relationship with the Monaco as frequent guests of their restaurant, Jackson 20, over the last few years, which hosts the finest brunch on Old Town! That said, Hector at J20 treated us like VIPs and made our reunion that much sweeter.

The accommodations are spectacular, clean, and first class. We stayed in a king suite with a jacuzzi tub, and it was magnificent. Special thanks to Jessy, Cheryl, Courtney, Darian, Anwar, Najova, and Whitney for a wonderful welcome home and a perfect stay!

A great Hotel in a great town. I stayed for 3 nights. My only request for a hotel of this status is to have a higher quality toilet paper. (Not joking) I would expect that quality at an emergency stop at a gas station. Parking also seemed over priced. Great location near a lot of pubs

Dear Rinner22,

Thank you for trying us out! Appreciate the kind words about both the hotel and Old Town Alexandria.

You make a valid point about the TP, it does need to be quality and I'm going to look into this right away.

Thanks again and have a great Thanksgiving weekend!

I stayed in this hotel nearly every time I came to Alexandria--when it was the nicest Holiday Inn ever. I always loved the place and the location is the best in Old Town Alexandria. It's colonial decor was perfect in the quaint old part of the city. Now it's a Kimpton--offering animal print robes, furnishings that would be more appropriate in Mumbai than Old Town and a policy that allows dogs--mostly pampered little ones, dressed in designer pooch sweaters. Puh-leeze. It seems to be trying just a bit too much to be the coolest place in town. The dark red halls and dark green lobby were depressing as well as totally inappropriate for this charming area. A late afternoon every-day wine tasting made it loud and difficult to get through the lobby. My room keys didn't work at first and I had to walk what seemed like miles to the front desk to get them replaced. I waited for the bellman to bring my luggage for an hour. I finally went back down--again--and the bellman said he had the wrong room number and decided to wait until someone came down to tell him what the right room was. Whew! The room was clean, and if you like animal print robes, you'll like the place. As for me, give me the old Holiday Inn back. But the location is still the best in Old Town.

Dear Ruth M,

Thank you for your review. Not a good thing that we performed so poorly that we made you miss the Holiday Inn however - ouch!

To that point, I'm very sorry for the issues you experienced with your room key and our poor service in assisting with your luggage. Those are things that I can control and promise you I will work on.

Have a great Holiday weekend and thank you for staying with us,

Matt
