“You get what you pay for -- nothing!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2004

Where do I begin? I could go on and on. Our group of 3 stayed at the Executive Club Suites in Alexandria for 3 nights and then moved to the Embassy Suites. We had an awful time. The room itself wasn't too bad (although the mattresses do need to be replaced) but the shuttle service and general housekeeping service and attitude of the staff were awful. Every time we called for the shuttle or waited out front we were told "10-15 minutes". We waited an average of 45 minutes each time and sometimes longer. Only twice were we picked up within 10-15 min. The hotel is near nothing and too far to walk for the Old Town area (where all the shops & restaurants are) or the metro. You are at the mercy of their shuttle! One evening the shuttle picked us & another couple up in Old Town and then drove straight past the hotel because he had to pick up someone at the airport! We spent an added 45 minutes in the shuttle going to the airport and back! Our housekeeping was terrible. Raggedy towels with holes, did not leave us enough towels & washcloths for 3 people, did not leave enough toilet paper or kleenex and when we asked for them we were told "sorry, housekeeping left for the day" so we had to watch our use of toilet paper until the next day! Not enjoyable. The breakfast is so-so and in a dingy underground room with a TV but no windows. As soon as we could, we moved to another hotel. I would never go back. At the $180 a night we had to pay, I expected more.

My family and I spent seven nights and eight days in the Washington DC area recently and stayed at the Executive Club Suites in Alexandria while we were there. It is located on the edge of Old Town Alexandria, and the trees and flowers were beautiful while we were there. We had a one bedroom suite located in the basement of one of their several buildings and paid $97/night on the weekend nights and $112/night on the weekday nights. The suite was dark and smelled a bit damp/moldy since we were in the basement. However, it met most of our needs and was reasonably well furnished. The bedroom had a queen bed, ample closet and dresser space and a small TV. The mattress could stand to be replaced. Our kids slept on the pullout couch in the family room, which was fine for them at ages 6 and 9. The kitchen featured a full-size refrigerator, but the "oven" was a micro-bake combo that was basically useless. The stove top was good size and efficient, and we also had a full-size dishwasher and sink. The bathroom was average and a bit tired, but everything worked.
We mostly have good things to say about the staff - efficient, helpful, courteous. The advertised shuttle to the metro was a nice plus, but not always reliable. We waited for an hour one evening even though they had said they'd be there in 10-15 minutes! We enjoyed a free cookout one night, and the kids loaded up on the free donuts every morning. The free continental breakfast included fresh fruit, juices, donuts, muffins, croissants, coffee and tea. Nothing earthshattering, but certainly enough to start your day. We'd go back to Executive Club Suites because it is a good value, especially in the DC area, but I would request an upper-floor room!

Stayed for the week of Oct 26th. Enjoyed my stay very much. About 4 miles from Crystal City and less than a mile to Old Town Alexandria.
Very quiet area. Very spacious. Full Kitchen, Living room, and full bedroom. All this for about 1/2 the price of a single room in Crystal City Hotels. I paid $99 per night. Property is a converted apt.
building. Not brand new, but very well maintained. I will stay again when in the Arlington, Alexandria, DC area.

Twelve family members stayed here in July 2003 while attending a funeral in Arlington. The hotel was super helpful and patient with us. They wanted to make sure that we had everything we needed. When someone was on the general use computer, they let me check my mail on theirs. The kids loved the pool. THEY ALSO TAKE PETS!

We have stayed at the Executive Suites Hotel twice now and are big fans! The kids love the outdoor pool and the large continental breakfast. The rooms are spacious and we find it handy to have our own little kitchen. Parking is convenient and the staff is more than helpful.
