“Good price for the stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2011

My girlfriend and I had decided to go to the national zoo on a Friday. After a much tired evening of walking 5miles. we needed a place to stay that was close to a outlet and navel base for gas yet was far away from the busy traffic of DC. Heading back we saw on the internet this Quality Inn Suites. When we arrived we was alittle unease of the stay due to the hotel being in contruction. The front desk male was professional but wasnt to friendly with giving information on the where abouts around there. Our room was nice sized, clean, comfortable bed and tidy room. The walls was alittle thin we thought. Outside had a colored water fountain which was kept up to date. This suite comes with a very attractive hot breakfast buffet. We will stay here again when in the area. It was a good stay for the price.

We stayed one night after finding a coupon for the hotel in the roomsaver magazine. After presenting the coupon (a $10 discount) the clerk was told by another clerk to give us a room in the back. Despite the hotel being mostly vacant, we found our room on the third floor (the highest) and at the very rear corner of the building on the interstate side. The room wasn't terrible. The beds were comfortable and clean. The TV was an older model that had very poor cable reception. The bathroom was dated, but clean. The bathtub needed repair and would fill with water to your ankles when taking a shower. Three "stink bugs" flew into our room while we were watching TV, apparently through the air conditioning vent. We had to ask for an iron from the front desk, and it was heavily stained with black on the metal contact area. Breakfast was continental with very few choices. I tried to make due with toast, but there was no butter. The server said that she had been off, and no one had ordered any butter. Sorry. In summary, I believe they gave us their worst room because we had the nerve to use a coupon that they had published. We awoke the next morning to see that we were the only guests on the back side. The front was full of cars. The staff was very nice and helpful, but frankly, this place needs some major updating. The standard rate was posted at $69 per night, so it is a bargain if you are looking for a cheap stay in the DC area. Also, we slept very well, as the hotel was very quiet back there by ourselves. There is a Red Lobster not far away.

Very unfriendly staff, rooms with ceilings so paper thin you can hear the person in the room above you clomping like an elephant at all hours, with a nasty continental breakfast (don't even have regular cream for the coffee, they're so cheap) = yucky stay. Once is enough for this place. Thankfully they're building a new Hampton Inn just down the road. I'll try that from now on, it looks nice.

The staff of this hotel were very welcoming. After a long night of no sleep, they allowed us to check in early so we could catch some sleep before our trip into DC. The continental breakfast was plentiful and delicious. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. I have stayed at luxury hotels that this is comperable with. I will stay here again, the next time I visit Alexandrea!!

During our entire trip in Virginia, this was the best of the 3 hotels we stayed at! It is quiet at night, and the room was very clean. I felt right at home. And the beds were more than comfortable. The bathroom was clean and there was plenty of hot water. There were only 2 issues:
1. Most of the staff could not speak English.
2. At the Continental Breakfast, there were teabags, but no hot water. We I asked a lady working there if there was any hot water, and she pointed to everything saying, "Here." I don't think she could speak English very well, either.

The TV picture was good, but HBO didn't work so I couldn't watch my John Adams.
There was a beautiful courtyard outside but it was raining the whole time, unfortunately.

But all in all, this hotel was superb and I recommend it to anyone staying in the Mt. Vernon area.

  • Liked — Close to Mt. Vernon, very comfortable
  • Disliked — Staff could not speak English

This was one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed at. If you have lost your sight and smell you will love this place as it is cheap. If you have sight you will see that the rooms are run down and the bathroom smells like a nursing home. I felt like I was back in college living in the [----] hole I lived in there. Stay away from this hotel. In Washington DC you will need to spend at least $150 for a halfway decent hotel.

I was nervous about staying here after reading reviews. But we went for it! The price was right and it was only about 15 minutes from the subway Huntington station. When we arrived, there was a family having a loud argument on the front steps and in the parking lot. This made me a little nervous. They were only at the hotel for a family reunion and weren't staying long - I found that comforting. The room was clean but I did see a roach during our stay. The microfridge was very helpful for us! The front desk people were helpful but didn't give that great of directions. Some of the desk workers weren't as helpful as others. The fitness room only had 1 treadmill which we couldn't get to work and 2 other machines. The washing machine was very helpful for us!

  • Liked — price/location
  • Disliked — probably not a really safe area
