“Small things DO matter”

This is a hotel where everything seems to have a charge and the service / ammenities aren't up to the Westin reputation. Paid $26 for our car to sit in their garage for 24hrs. Close to Metro station and inexpensive to go into Washington DC for a soccer game. Bar closed at 11 PM on a Sat, so we had time to get in an order - NO food available. Got kicked out a bit later as they were basically closing down the bar behind us. No ice bucket in the room, something housekeeping should have noticed. Ice machine on our floor was out of order, so guess no need for ice bucket! Went up to another floor - collected ice in coffee cups. While taking shower, water was draining so slowly that it was up to my ankles by the time I was done. Could have called in the missing ice bucket and the slow drain - but at midnight, not much point in that. NO mini fridge, hotel info said we could call and request one. Fancy hotel and not even a tiny mini fridge??? Reviewing our bill we found we'd been charged $4 for a bottle of water. Seems that the two bottles sitting out had two DIFFERENT hangtags. One bottle was complimentary and the other said $4. We drank the wrong one - evidently someone had checked out room, noticed the $4 bottle was gone and billed us. The desk manager gave us a credit. Still seems odd that they'd have two different hangtags. We would have expected a higher level of service, oversight and a bar that was open later than 11 PM on a Sat from a big name hotel in a prime location. We recommend checking out the other big name hotels within blocks of the Westin, maybe they do better at the small stuff. Not a hotel we would return to.

Room Tip: READ all the ammenities included in a room, check for the small print on fees and definately check o...

I recently had a four night stay at the Westin Alexandria. Clean, comfortable and very friendly. Staff were great. Restaurant had just reopened and food was very very good and service excellent. Close to Starbucks, Whole Foods and metro. The only confusion was related to the shuttle. We figured it out the last day but wish we had pursued the information we needed a bit more earlier in our visit. I must travel with oxygen and they were very helpful.Recommend this property!

Stayed here one night. Check in was very efficient and helpful when we asked for directions to a couple of places. Bed was super comfortable, liked the bathroom toiletries. Parked on the street to avoid parking fee and didn't utilize restaurant or room service. Had a view of a roof and agree with previous posters that wifi should absolutely be free. If I got a good rate, I would stay here again.

A solid entry in the new-generation of recently opened Westins in the broader DC metro area (Arlington, Dulles, Alexandria, Richmond and Annapolis). The area is a bit business heavy (starbucks didn't open until 7am on Sunday?!), but a Whole Foods 2 blocks away and a nearby Metro station, and a better-than-average new Westin layout (great soft lighting, great common area rugs) make it an attractive place to stay for those flying early from National or needing a central place to crash in the area.

Room Tip: Lots of standard rooms -- never seen a suite here.

The Westin Alexandria made all our wedding dreams come true! Our wedding was everything that I envisioned it to be, and I have the Catering Manager, David Magsumbol, to thank for that. I so enjoyed working with David; he was always professional, attentive, and especially kind. All the members of the Westin team--Agnes, Beth, Jessica, Rachel, Marie, and Guillermo--were truly wonderful to work with. Every single detail was attended to with care and diligence, resulting in an absolutely stunning and seamless wedding affair. Many of our guests said that it was the best wedding that they had ever attended and felt that the flow of the event and the service were well executed.

The chef is to be acknowledged for creating incredibly delicious appetizers and meals for our affair. Many of our guests were also amazed with the appetizers and meals, stating it was the best food they’d ever had at a wedding. I was extremely impressed when one of my gluten-free guests told me that the chef came to her table to introduce himself and ensure that her meal was being prepared properly.

The Westin Alexandria is a gorgeous hotel that offers a “boutique” atmosphere. Every member of the hotel staff was accommodating and clearly devoted to making sure that our guests had a pleasurable stay. The newly redesigned restaurant/bar is stunning and offered fantastic meals. I heard countless compliments from our guests about how delicious and artistic the food was. Our guests really enjoyed the location of the hotel because they were easily able to access Washington, DC, and tour the Old Town Alexandria area. One guest from California said, “I felt like this was a true Virginian destination wedding.”

This hotel is in a class above all the rest. You will be extremely impressed with every aspect of the hotel: the contemporary design, the gracious and accommodating staff, and the amazing food.

Great hotel, with a great location convenient to King Street Metro and kind staff. The shuttle to Old Town Alexandria is nice, too. They will charge you for anything, though, including maid service (you get a credit to your room if you remember to put out the no-service sign by 2AM) and especially wifi.

We'd stay here again, although it would be nice if Westin would just let you get on the computer and have some amenities without paying.

We just spent one night at the Westin in Alexandria and we were thrilled! The staff here is amazing. From the desk clerk that made us feel like we had just arrived for a family reunion to the driver of the Westin van that took us down to King st for free. I had a fever and didn't feel well in the evening and Juan went out of his way to get hot tea with honey and lemon for me! This hotel is beautiful and the staff is amazing. I would agree about other reviews about charging for WIFI. It seems unnecessary in this age. We can't wait to stay again!
