“Cosmopolitan Restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2009

This Bosnian restaurant has recently moved to 7770 Richmond H'way., Alexandria, Va. next to Gold's gym just south of Hybla Valley. The owner, chef works very hard to please. The rolls are house made. Meat is provided by local farmers. Everything is freshly made and delicious. Many families eat here as they're child friendly. Check-out their website for specials and occasional Saturday night live music.

“Great Bosnian Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2007

If you haven't ever had Bosnian food, well, there's a first time for everything. You can't really go wrong with bread, meat, cheese and butter anyway. The atmosphere at Cosmopolitan isn't the most enjoyable you've ever seen, but it really doesn't matter because most people just pick up their food to eat elsewhere. Don't plan on coming here for a sit down dinner, there's only a small counter inside, no tables. Regardless of the lack of seating and atmosphere, the food is delicious and most assuredly authentic. The staff are kind - it's obviously a family-run place. Just next door the same family runs a store where you can buy Turkish coffee, a multitude of chocolates, sausage, seasonings, goulash, and any other Bosnian-related food stuff you can think of. Prices are average and comparable with other casual pick-up restaurants. There are a few non-Bosnian items on the menu, although I don't see why you would come here to eat those. Try the burek (pastries made of a thin flaky dough filled with salty cheese, minced meat, potatoes or other vegetables), pljeskavica (Bosnian hamburger) and cevapi (grilled minced meat kebabs).
