My husband and I ate at Mango Mike's while visiting the DC area in October. We visit the Caribbean yearly and are always excited when we find restaurants that can give us a taste of the area between our travels.
I had found out about the Tuesday Lobster Mania on their website so we stopped by for that. The atmosphere was fun. It was decorated in a beach/tropical theme, but they managed to keep it quiet and intimate by keeping the lights down during our dinner.
We had great service. The food was very good. They start you off with some slightly sweet hush puppies. Great! The Lobster meal was excellent and included a whole Maine lobster, broccoli and potatoes for $12.95. We also go a Creole seafood dish. This was good and had lots of fresh seafood in it, but lacked the spice that you would expect. Both the Shipwreck Ale and the Alligator Ale were very good.
Overall, we were very pleased with our experience at Mango Mike's. This is a fun and different place to try if you are in the Alexandria area. Just a note, it is far away from the the Old Town area and Metro stop. You can easily hop on a bus for $1.25 to get their quickly as we did.
