“Late Lunch-Wonderful Surroundings-Good Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2014

After a trip on the Potomac Water Taxi, we walked around Old Town, AX, trying to find a place to get something for a late light lunch. We found ourselves at the Union Street Public House and decided to give it a try. We were led upstairs to the 3rd floor and from there had a great view of the street below. We started with their soup of the day, a delicious vegetable beef concoction (ground beef with chili overtones), had 2 Martini's and Cosmo's, a Wedge salad (wonderful) and one MD crabcake to share. The crabcake wasn't anything special, but then again, we are from a region where we enjoy crabs most of the year. Our server was delightful and the attractive surroundings, soup, and drinks enough to relax us into storming the very crowded King Street and trolley ride home. Overall, a very good late lunch, albeit a bit expensive ($15 for the crabcake and $10 for the drinks each).

“Cool for hanging out, but the food is just average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

We've been to the Union Street Pub a few times with friends, and enjoy the atmosphere there. That said, if we're in that area of Old Town and are looking for a good meal, there are several places less than a block away that have similar dishes that are definitely tastier. An example is the steak salad -- I've ordered it twice at the Union Street Pub and both times the steak had veins and was marbelized with fat -- it didn't enjoy eating it. I've ordered the steak salad many times at Chadwicks, which is right around the corner, and it was excellent every time.

So, it's fine to enjoy beers and appetizers at the Union St Pub with friends, but then go elsewhere for dinner.

“Overpriced for average food and atmosphere and poor service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2013 via mobile

Food was OK but nothing special, as was the dining area. We were the only table when we arrived in the dining area and had to wait 30 min for our food to arrive. Service was mediocre at best. Will not go back or recommend.

“Fun place to eat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2013 via mobile

Party of seven and we we're accommodated easily. Waiter was very friendly and helpful. We had a variety of food and everyone enjoyed their food. I had the gumbo which was good, but spicy.

“Busy, Noisy, & Just Right”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2013

We were traveling with a wee one - and a place with multiple tv screens, lots of noise and lots of people is a perfect spot. The wee one is entertained, you don't have to worry about shushing, and everyone relaxes more. PLUS - the food was really good, the Happy Hour specials were great, the service was up-to-par, and a good time was had by all. I especially liked the wings wich were smoked and then sauced! Burger was solid, too. I would visit again, with - or without - a little one in tow.
