Celebrating my wife's birthday at Brabo Tasting Room provided a wonderfully different restaurant experience. Its simple decor is a sharp contrast with a typical nice restaurant.
Sharing our dishes, we began with a wonderful salad composed of wedges of heirloom and grape tomatoes: red, yellow, purple, and orange. Garnished with a light balsamic vinaigrette and greens, it prepared us for our main dish. Classic mussels were presented in a skillet bubbling with savory broth of garlic and herbs. And what a generous quantity: at least 40 mussels! Tasty bread helped sop up the broth.
Our dessert was a light and tasty fresh peach shortcake: pound cake, peaches, and whipped cream.
A generous French press full of coffee topped off the meal.
They offer a variety of wine in "tastes" (3 oz), "glass" (6 oz) and bottle.
If you want white table cloths, dim lighting, and other formality, the Tasting Room isn't for you. But, with a common table for 8, booths, tables, bar, and pleasant attentive servers, its informal setting is a great place to celebrate a special occasion or simply get together with friends for an excellent meal for the price.
