“Not to be missed!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2013 via mobile

I have eaten at most of the restaurants along King St in famous Old Town Alexandria and this one is a little easier to overlook, but don't do that! The cheese selection is worth stopping in to check out, but also stay and eat a meal. The Rabbit sandwich was a truly great surprise. I expected a decent flavor, but it was melt-in-your-mouth good. The flavor combinations, perfectly gorgeous and tasty salad, and perfectly cooked rabbit meat (not the least bit gamey) made for an unforgettable sandwich meal. The vibe of the place and the food is small, relaxed sophistication. I have to give only 4stars for value because almost all the restaurants in this area are overpriced. (If you are looking for cheaper, try Austin's, though all aspects are cheaper) La Fromagerie's ingredients and preparation are clearly top notch. You can be sure everything you are served here is going to taste the best you've had of that food. My mom thought the same thing about her soup entrée. The cozy, small, but very warm and friendly atmosphere, plus amazing food makes this place one of the must-try places if you are anywhere within driving distance!

“Charcuterie to drool over”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 10, 2013 via mobile

We dropped in one Saturday at 1130, visiting Alexandria for a friend's birthday. We ordered a charcuterie plate with duck prosciutto, boar salami, one of the many goat cheeses, a blue cheese, and a creamy number. The accoutrement (?sp) were perfect: cornichons, fig jam, pickled veg, toasted baguettes. We were almost full but still ordered on! The country pâté was amazing, as was the beef cheek sandwich. We will definitely return, the ingredients were fresh, specials were inventive, and dishes were delectable!

“Wonderful food, unique combinations!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013 via mobile

My foodie friend and I tried this place yesterday for the first time, and we loved it! Their options are intriguing (like the beef cheek and wild boar meatball sandwich), and it's quite like a European cafe! The staff were friendly, and it's in the heart of Old Town!

“Food ok, but slow lunch service.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2012 via mobile

A group from a workshop (5) came in for lunch. Unfortunately, the service was so slow, the great Taste of the food was nullified by how fast we had to eat it to get back to class on time.

“These people know their ingredients”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

I had a lunch and two suppers from here recently, and the most impressive thing was the raw materials for the meals. It wasn't just ordinary beet salad, it was salad with three or four varieties of beets; the same thing with the tomato salad, which had many different colors and sizes and tastes of tomatoes. The mac and cheese had identifiable cheese-variety tastes. I was very happy with everything I had from here -- including the chocolate bar with caramel and bacon bits!
