“Great Music shows, but tight and the most uncomfortable chairs to sit on!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2013

They book Great bands, however because of tickets being in the $35 range and the most uncomfortable chairs I have had to sit in for a few hours to see a show I can't say I will be back. My butt was sore for 3 days after attending a concert there.

“Great Place to See a Concert”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

Aging and lesser-known music performers of all kinds come here because they can keep the ticket price as low as possible and only have to sell around 500 tickets in order to fill the performing hall. There really is not a bad seat in the place except for the two far corners. It might be a little hard to see over all the people in front of you from the very back. If you are going the first time, be sure to read up on the open seating policy and how they hand out "boarding passes" on a first-come, first-served basis when the box office opens. This arrangement is ideally suited to larger groups that want to fill a table, because that way only one or two people have to go early. Sound quality is excellent. The LED lighting gives the stage alot of different looks. I wish they would make the lights bright for short periods more often during the show for best picture-taking.

There are music halls like this one in every major city, but I think this is one of the better ones I have been too. They all borrow the dinner theater concept. The Birch does a great job with the food service. Long tables have about six chairs on each side, oriented for best viewing of the stage. The menu has alot of choices. Stick to the daily specials and popular menu items and you won't go wrong. I ordered a chicken caesar salad. It arrived faster than most and was very good tasting. Sure, prices are a little high but you should expect that. The wait staff will treat you nicely even if you just want to nurse one drink the entire evening.

Finally, there is plenty of free parking on site. Imagine that? Most other halls either have no parking or charge for valet parking. Vehicle security is not a worry. I asked a staffer who told me they hire two off-duty police officers to patrol the lot during all shows.

Thanks, Birchmere. I'll be back.

“Great music hall!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

The Birchmere's a great place to see your favorite performers! There's a wide variety of performers with one ticket price, depending on the act. The main room holds about 500 people; you can also watch the show on closed circuit TV's at the bar. It's all on 1 level, so it's readily accessible to wheelchairs. With no assigned seating it's a good idea to get there early. There's plenty of parking on-site, with overflow parking in a lot across the street. Admission starts at 6 pm. with an initial "modified general admission" entry. When you pick up your tickets at the door, you'll get a number (just like the deli - don't lose it). They admit people by ticket number when they first open the doors to avoid a mob scene. Once the crowd's been admitted, they just let you go on in. Plan to arrive early to get a seat facing the stage, otherwise you'll end up craning your neck backwards to see the show. We like to have our dinner there - the food's pretty good and is reasonably priced. Once you've claimed your seats, take a few minutes to check out the autographed photos and posters of the acts who have played the Birchmere over the years. It's pretty impressive! There's a gift shop behind the ticket window that's open throughout the show. The shows usually wind down by 11 pm, depending on the number of encores.

“Great place, been going there for years.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2013

This place is more of a dinner music hall. It was once a smaller place down the same street. They then moved to a much larger place. All tickets are general admission so you want there early. Sometimes I do not buy tickets to the show. Instead I sit at the bar area outside the hall. They have monitors and pipe the music. As far as music, they have it all and legends keep coming through. Just go to their website http://birchmere.com/ for calendar and info and you will see.
