Great place for photography, particularly in the morning. The beavers keep the area marshy. There's a lot of history here, but you have to look for it....
Great place for waterfowl viewing. Beavers & muskrats, deer, bluebirds, some raptors. Walk through the woods or on the boardwalk to the water. Stop in the visitors' center. Best wildlife viewing early morning and evening. Enjoy! It's free, but you can leave a donation.
Huntley Meadows doesn't have any dramatic vistas or hikes. But it is a nice walk through a wetland with enough space to get away from the hustle and bustle of Northern Va. Repeated visits over the course of the year always provide for something new. The boardwalk is also a fun choice for kids.
This is a great place to take your family for a great walk. It is in the middle of a big city but you can go here and feel like you are at the sea. The wildlife is wonderful. It is hands on. The naturalist are very helpful.
Recently discovered jewel of a park. The nature center is diaramic wonderland for young children (or children of any age). The walking trails along the boardwalk marshes are filled with birds, fish,turtles of all sizes. Bring your binos & your birding books (or apps). You'd never imagine you're in the middle of NOVA in this magical haven.
