Stayed with family of four and met my brother and his family at the hotel. Typical Hilton, nicely appointed and well maintained. Convenient to the Metro, which unfortunately was undergoing some repair work so shuttle buses were in use. Easy enough to work around. The King Street Trolley stoppped adjcent to or across the street from the hotel. If you stay here, use the trolley. It's free and you can hop on or off at every other street. It travels from the Metro to the waterfront.
Our room was nice, clean and overlooked King St. The room was surprisingly quiet, given the Metro and street noises below. The room was kept clean and neat while we were out. Check in and out was simple. Staff was courteous and polite. Wife is already talking about a trip without kids and we would probably stay here again.
Our only issue was the pool was closed. On arrival we were told it had been posted on the website, but I must have missed it (or it was posted after we had made reservations). Given our fmailes had six kids, we would probably have chosen the Embassy across the street. We were allowed to use the pool at the Embassy but it just wasn't as convenient given the cold temperatures.
I let the hotel know of our issue and the manager emailed and apologized in a very timely manner. Much appreciated.
This hotel is very convenient. If you are going to DC and plan to spend any time in Alexandria, stay here. It is on the blue-yellow line so you can connect with other lines on the Metro. With King Street out your door, restaurants, shops, ect are minutes away.
