“Cozy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

This is my third time at a Hampton Inn and I only stay there for the breakfast. The location is close to the metro and Amtrak Sta. which are walking distance. The free King street trolley stops right outside. The rooms were clean and well appointed in a traditional way. The staff is helpful and the breakfast was plentiful. The business cent is too cramped, but serves its purpose. Since I was attending a leadership conference at the Hilton across the stree, I had options. They allowed me to do a 1 pm checkout and that was helpful. It was a nice stay.

Room Tip: Ask to face King Street.

The location is great- The rooms smelled of mold/ mildew- awful! The parking garage was extremely tight- How could any building department allow this to be built? Unless you have a sub compact car- DO NOT STAY HERE

This was a no-frills, but very clean and efficiently-run hotel right on King Street and near everything for a first time visit to Old Town. Staff was friendly and helpful. We walked to all the restaurants and museums and the harbor.

This hotel is wonderful for visiting Washington on a budget. The room was spacious, very clean and quiet (even though it was on the 3rd floor facing King Street and the bed was comfortable. The location is fantastic - one block to the Metro (with a Starbucks near the metro in the Hilton) and a lovely neighbourhood with many fine restaurants. The complimentary breakfast was extensive and the fine cookies at the desk at the end of a long day in the capital were appreciated.

Hampton Inn hotels are fine, they're clean, well run and have all the agreeable little touches you'd expect from a major hotel chain - soap plus shower gel, mouthwash, plenty of towels, etc. The rooms are well appointed, free internet, comfortable beds etc. What's not to like? The breakfast, that's what. I will never stay at a Hampton Inn again until they improve their below-standard breakfast. Everything is served in annoying little plastic containers with plastic knives and forks. Instead of crispy bacon and fluffy scrambled eggs you get their microwaved omelette-style extrusion with greasy sausage-style hockey pucks. Er, no thanks. All I could stomach was a banana and yoghurt. The coffee isn't bad, I have to admit but otherwise the Hampton Inn breakfast sucks big time. Btw, this is not based on just this hotel, I stayed at another HI in Virginia Beach a few months ago and it is the same - very disappointing breakfast.

Typical Hampton Inn. Good breakfast and small but comfortable and very clean rooms. I was reminded of small-town European two-star hotels I have stayed in. The below-ground parking is odd (you have to go around the block), but once you figure it all out, it's actually very convenient. There is direct access to the (free) King Street trolley, which runs until 10 PM. Only discordant note: had a difficult time getting towels after the clean-up crew left us short. That said, the staff is very pleasant and accommodating.
