My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our five-night stay at Hampton Inn Alexandria - Old Town. Our room on the fifth floor facing King Street was quiet, clean and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. Great location, close to restaurants, shops and a grocery store. A short walk to the Metro. Hotel staff were pleasant and very accommodating.

For breakfast we had the oatmeal with dried fruit/nuts (delicious). Fresh fruit, muffins, bagels, waffles, eggs, juice, coffee, tea were also available. Chocolate chip cookies were a late afternoon treat.

We would stay at this Hampton Inn in the future.

We picked The Hampton Inn the excellent military rate and for the location; right on King Street and just across the street from the King Street Metro stop. We were graciously allowed to check in an hour early. The weekend went flawlessly except for one tiny problem with the microwave in the kitchenette which we fixed ourselves. We took advantage of the garage parking for an added fee which proved to be an excellent idea; we parked the car on Friday and didn't move it again until we checked out on Sunday. We either used the Metro to get to Arlington Cemetery and Washington or the King Street trolley to get closer to the waterfront area. The free breakfast was tasty and more than adequate for our needs with a wide variety of options including make your own waffles as well as oatmeal and fresh fruit! We actually liked the "robust" coffee compared to other hotel coffee we've had. We chose a king bed room with a separate sitting area and kitchenette. Our bedroom was spacious and the bed was firm without being hard. We both loved the bedding they provided. We thought the chair and pull-out sofa in the sitting area to be worn out and uncomfortable though. For the price ($99 military rate) we thought The Hampton Inn to be an excellent value compared to the other chain hotels on the same block. The only real negative issue happened when we asked why someone without a handicapped tag or placard was parked in the only handicapped space in the garage. We were told by the woman at the front desk that they don't really pay attention to who parks in the handicapped spaces.

I was in town for a course nearby and this was my first experience at a Hampton. Although it is an older property, this hotel was very clean, and had excellent service. The overall vibe and feel was happy, safe and comfortable. The employees were all genuinely friendly and very helpful. The free breakfast was quite good with lots of variety, and the staff kept it well stocked and very clean! Coffee, tea and hot chocolate is also available all day. The neighbourhood is safe with lots of great restaurants around...for a quick lunch try the Uptowner Cafe across the street. Great coffees, soups and sandwhiches at decent prices and quaint charm. Joe Theisman's about 1.5 blocks away was also quite enjoyable as well. There is also a free King Street trolley that runs every 20-30 min or so, with a stop right in front of the hotel, which you can take to the end of the street near the river where there are tons of great restaurants. I highly recommend this hotel and would not hesitate to stay here again, any day!

I was looking for a hotel convenient to the Metro but not right in DC. The Hampton Inn Alexandria - Old Town was perfect. We were able to park in the hotel garage which did not cost an arm and a leg like many other DC area hotels. We walked to the Metro and enjoyed a day of sight seeing without worrying about our vehicle.
The hotel is clean, the rooms are nice and we enjoyed the complementary breakfast. An added bonus was the fresh donuts they served, I think they came from the Dunkin two doors down.
I would definitely stay again if in the area. We were able to visit a lot of sites including Arlington National Cemetery which was a short distance from the hotel. The price, location and quality of the hotel can't be beat. Great dining is close by as well.
We were extremely satisfied!
