“Nice Cruise”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

I would recommend only taking the cruise one way. It is annoying that you have to cross and stop at two more places before you head to Mount Vernon. They tell you about the area and different forts on the way. It was nice. However, we were finished before the four hour time to return. Not sure where the metro is outside of Mount Vernon but would probably look at riding back on that next time. The boys enjoyed the ride and there is a concession stand downstairs in the air conditioning. Worth taking to experience it. You leave at 10:30 and return at 5:30. Get four hours at Mount Vernon.

“Relaxing cruise to Mt Vernon”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2013 via mobile

Near the end of a week in DC, our family of 4 enjoyed the trip from Old Town Alexandria to Mt Vernon. The cruise was a nice leisurely change of pace with beautiful views along the Potomac with guides providing some narration but not talking the whole time.

“Mount Vernon cruise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

We took the boat from Alexandria old town to Mount Vernon. The boat was clean and the crew were very friendly and the gentleman who gave the narration up to Mount Vernon was very knowledgeable and he was fun to listen to. The trip took about and hour and half and it was lovely sunny day so we were able to sit up top and enjoy the view. Very lovely day thank you.

“Something different”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

Tripping from Alexandria to Georgetown by riverboat is a good thing to do once you have seen the sites of Washington up close and personal.
Seeing them from the river places them all in locational context and what a vista it is!
Well worth doing.

“Fun different way to see the DC area”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013

I took a sunset cruise on the Potomac from Alexandria to Georgetown. It was billed as the "monument" cruise and you did get to see a different view of the monuments from the water. Particularly interesting was the Lincoln monument, with steps right down to the river. The commentary was interesting and informative. You can disembark in Georgetown and explore the waterfront if desired. I timed it for sunset, which was gorgeous on the way to Georgetown; then saw the monuments lit up in the twilight on the way back to Alexandria. Nice.

If you go, beware sitting in the bow of the boat, as it can get wet when going over wakes from busy river traffic. Also people tend to stand in the bow, blocking the view unless you are right on the rail. Choose a seat on the starboard side right on the rail going towards Georgetown for best viewing of the monuments.
