“Great Stay right outside of D.C.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2014

We just returned from a 3 night stay at the SpringHill Suites. Room was larger than most with 2 queen beds, a work area, and a sectional style couch. Plenty of room for the 4 of us to stretch out. This was easily one of the quietest hotels we've ever stayed in as well. We were right next to the elevator but were never bothered by it or by people in the hallways. Free shuttle to the Huntington Metro station was easy to use and very quick. It was very easy to get into D.C. from here, having used the Metro one day and driving in twice.
Breakfast was a bit of a madhouse and with only 1 waffle machine on the weekend, you might as well stick with getting something else. However, William was working breakfast all 3 mornings and was right on top of making sure everything was fully stocked, garbage cans empty and the area kept neat, all with a smile. He's a very hard working young man.
Overall, this was a great value and we plan to stay here on our next visit in 2015.

We stayed at a 4 star hotel in the area on the way to our vacation destination and stayed at this hotel on the way back. SpringHill Suites clearly had the better value.

Located close to the freeway, it was an easily accessible waypoint on our road trip, though not in a very pedestrian friendly area. It was also close to Old Town Alexandria with its wide selection of restaurants--we wound up at a family friendly Italian restaurant that was only 5 minutes away,

Amenities: Parking is free with easy accessibility. Free wi-fi was fast, even enough for FaceTime. Breakfast is included and consisted of fruit juices, milk, coffee, scrambled eggs, bacon (actually sausage patties), waffles, and an assortment of breads, pastries and cereals. Other reviews commented on 24 hour coffee but that feature has been cut back to only breakfast hours, and it was constantly in need of being replenished. I liked the contemporary decor and lighting. The room was equipped with only three sets of linens although reserved for a family of 4, but the staff courteously and responsively corrected that problem. The room was clean and the layout was refreshing with ample sitting space. Beds were comfortable with plenty of pillows. The shower/bath was easily accessible for our little ones and the water temp was easily adjustable. I used the gym for a quick run on the LifeFitness treadmill. The staff was always courteous, even when passing along the hallway.

Overall, an excellent value and great place to refresh on a long trip.

Room Tip: We had a third floor room that face the front of the hotel. It was quiet there!

Green Features: Options are available to keep linens but we only stayed there one night.

From the front staff (Stephanie most emphatically), to the lay out of the suite, to the pleasant lobby, everything here was as it should be for a weary traveler. It is not a hotel to party in (or around), but if you are looking for a well appointed, spacious SUITE at a lesser chain room price, there isn't a better deal out there than the Spring Hill in Alexandria.

Took kids to see the Panda's and the capitol and wanted a short drive. This hotel was very short distance but still took 30 minutes to get into the sights in DC. Room was spacious and free laundry machines was great! ( bring your own soap) First hotel I have stayed at all my life that had a lifeguard on duty. Price was right! ( $140) We enjoyed a beer in the lobby while we got food delivered. They have counter in lobby with a lot of nearby restaurants that deliver and it was nice to eat in the lobby.

This was a great place to stay. Spacious room, very comfortable beds and clean bathrooms. Location is just a 15 minute drive to downtown Washington DC. Didn't have breakfast, but the coffee was very good.

Room Tip: Had a first floor room and it was very quiet.

As soon as my family and I arrived we were greeted by Nancy who was very helpful! She was knowledgeable of the area and had no problem easing my fears of traveling to the city of DC. Every question I asked she could answer and she did it with a smile and a great deal of patience! The rooms were large and clean with lots of pillows. The breakfast was filling with something for everyone and the coffee was good. My ONLY complaint was that coffee wasn't available all day in the lobby. we woke up before breakfast was served and we had to travel all the way to crispy cream for a cup of coffee. I will absolutely return to this hotel if I am ever in the area again. Thanks again Nancy!!

This hotel is 7 minutes to the Huntington Metro Station. There is a shuttle from the hotel to the metro but due to it not running late we parked at the metro station, there is free parking at the metro station on the weekends. The hotel decor was modern and trendy. The room was clean and functional. The only issues with the room were the fact the bathroom had no hairdryer (aren't hairdryers a given in a chain hotels) and the fridge in the room had an energy saving mode which caused it not to keep things cold (kind of defeats the purpose). We went out one day at 8 a.m. and came back to the room between 5 and 6 p.m. to crash and our room had not been cleaned. I called the front desk and housecleaning was there in a matter of minutes (really rather it was cleaned prior instead of use having to move around the room to accommodate the cleaning). We had to call housekeeping as soon as we checked in due to not enough towels for the 4 people we had in the room. The hotel breakfast consisted of hot and cold items. The location of the hotel is on a very busy highway but there isn't much in the way of restaurants or gas stations nearby. We had to ask the front desk where the nearest gas station was and it really wasn't that far away but there wasn't much in the way of competition. The front desk also has directions to the metro and local restaurants.
