“An entirely enjoyable experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2011

Peake-Fairfax House, a beautifully and sensitively restored early nineteenth century home, provides for all the needs of its guests. From its prime location in charming, historic Alexandria, with easy access to the Metro and all points therein, to the beautifully decorated and comfortable rooms and its gracious and helpful owners, Dorothy and Chet, I can not imagine a more delightful place to stay. Dorothy and Chet provided just the right balance between contact with guests and giving us space and privacy. Breakfast was ready for us when we came down each morning, and was certainly substantial enough to keep a person going through the day. I particularly enjoyed the historic aspects of the home, and the fact that we were surrounded by inspiring works of European art, chosen by Dorothy during buying trips to the European continent, in her capacity as a fine art dealer. This was my first visit to the D.C. area, and Peake-Fairfax House made it a memorable one indeed.

“An experience on par with the history, elegance and hospitality of Old Town Alexandria.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2010

The Peake-Fairfax House is so much more than a B&B. It is a rendezvous with Alexandria's history, elegance and warmth wrapped in a package of comfort (the sheets were divine!) and hospitality! The painstakingly restored Peake-Fairfax House is located on a historically significant street in Old Town, across the street from George Washington's townhouse, and steps to Gadsby's Tavern, Christ's Church and King Street. As you'll learn from its delightful owners, Dorothy and Chet, the house was once two homes (one from the 18th century and the other from the 19th) combined by a member of the Fairfax family. Some highlights: an original colonial-era hearth; Federal style architectural details and decor as illuminated in the dining room where morning breakfast is served; period art work throughout; wine and engaging conversation with Dorothy and Chet; and lovely private rooms. All I can say is, make your reservations before the word gets out about this treasure!

“The most perfect house in Alexandria.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2010

Peake Fairfax is one of the most beautiful historic homes in Alexandria, Virginia. The rooms are exquistely furnished, as if you were living in a museum, but still very comfortable and homey. Dot and Chet make you feel as if you are one of the family, and will make you wish they would adopt you. The location is perfect....just one block from King Street.
