Peake-Fairfax House, a beautifully and sensitively restored early nineteenth century home, provides for all the needs of its guests. From its prime location in charming, historic Alexandria, with easy access to the Metro and all points therein, to the beautifully decorated and comfortable rooms and its gracious and helpful owners, Dorothy and Chet, I can not imagine a more delightful place to stay. Dorothy and Chet provided just the right balance between contact with guests and giving us space and privacy. Breakfast was ready for us when we came down each morning, and was certainly substantial enough to keep a person going through the day. I particularly enjoyed the historic aspects of the home, and the fact that we were surrounded by inspiring works of European art, chosen by Dorothy during buying trips to the European continent, in her capacity as a fine art dealer. This was my first visit to the D.C. area, and Peake-Fairfax House made it a memorable one indeed.
