“delicious breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

We arrived right at 10:30 AM which was closing time for breakfast. Even so they were very welcoming. Delicious breakfast. I had a light meal of greek yogurt and fruit. SO had the eggs and corned beef hash which was also delicious. Best hash I've ever had.

It's hard to believe that this restaurant receives such high ratings. The food is good, but not great, and it's very expensive. Not sure what the fuss is about. I'd recommend their other place "Brabo Tasting Room" which is right next door instead.

“Nice, but not memorable...except on the wallet”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2013

We'd been eyeing Brabo for a while, but because we knew it wasn't a family-friendly restaurant, we needed a good reason to go as a couple. We chose our anniversary. Reservations were highly recommended, and reconfirmed by phone the morning of, which surprised us, as the restaurant was half empty (being a Monday evening). We knew it wasn't going to be a cheap dinner. Nonetheless we were in for a bit of sticker-shock. It's hard to order a bottle of Spanish wine for $64 when we can buy the same bottle at Total Wine for under $15. Seems a bit too high a mark-up. That discovery persuaded us to go with the 7-course Tasting Menu ($65) with Wine Pairing ($45) as some quick math showed that ordering from the a la carte menu with a bottle of wine would have come to about the same. In the beginning we seemed quite rushed, as the first three courses came out almost on top of each other, hardly allowing us to finish our dish & wine pairing before another set would arrive. At one point, my husband had three wine glasses in front of him! Overall, however, the food was nice, and the pairings were ok. Our waiter rattled off the facts about each dish & pairing genuinely well. Some of the dishes were a bit too salty for our taste (but that is a personal preference), and for the price, the portion size of the tastings could have been a bit larger. We did both enjoy the ricotta cheesecake very much. I was surprised that neither an aperitif nor cup of coffee were included in the Tasting Menu. Is Brabo a first class restaurant? Yes, it certainly strives to be. Is there room for improvement? Most definitely.

“Very good food/overpriced Easter brunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

We enjoyed our brunch on Easter Sunday. There was a buffet with two carving stations and lots of nice breakfast items as well as lunch entrees, plus a big dessert table. The prix fixe was just a lot for someone like me who doesn't really like to PIG out at a buffet! But for my college age son who does enjoy going back for seconds and thirds, it was good.

“Number #1 Rated for a Reason”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 1, 2013

Was visiting Washington D.C. for a conference and wanted to see what the #1 rated restaurant on King's Street was all about. The reputation and high ranking on Trip Advisor is well earned and I greatly enjoyed my fine dining experience. I went with the Chef's Sampler platter which provided smaller portion servings of several different courses. The fresh, high quality food was excellent and perfectly prepared. If you are looking for fine dining and can afford the prices, would highly recommend BRABO.
