“Very Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2012

Stayed here for two nights over weekend in June - got a great rate and it's a very nice hotel with all the amenities you need. Not sure why it's not ranked higher to be honest. Nice location, very nice views of Alexandria area and four miles to Old Town and about eight miles to Washington DC and all the monuments -

Comfortable beds and rooms -

Only negative is the $18/day parking charge

Room Tip: The higher up you go, the more you can see -

I booked several rooms at this hotel for bus drivers for my group which was staying at another Hilton family hotel that did not have bus parking. As a result, I called the 800 number to ask about bus parking and the cost of parking. The Hilton rep called the hotel directly and confirmed that there was free bus parking. She noted this on my confirmation with a note to call the hotel to confirm the number of buses and the employee's name that she spoke to. I called the hotel as requested. They changed the rate for bus parking to $75/night stating they had no control over parking fees and changed the note on my reservation. I only booked this hotel because of the price and free bus parking. I called Hilton customer service who sent my complaint back to the hotel. No action was taken despite having verbal and written confirmation that parking would be free. The hotel would not let me cancel the reservation despite the misrepresentation. The excuse was that the hotel does not control parking. Needless to say when I needed to book another hotel room for another bus I booked at the Days Inn for the same price and free parking just as they stated. Lesson learned-If you have any different or special requests, don't believe what the hotel says since apparently even the employees can not be trusted to give correct information and the hotel will not honor your written confirmation. Hilton, I am very disappointed!

Location, Location, Location. This is a great location if you are visiting DC, but want out of the heavy traffic. We often stay near DC when we are visiting our son and family there. We really enjoy this hotel and have stayed here many times. We never had been on an upper floor before, and oh, how we enjoyed the view. Our room was newly remodeled with various amenities--comfortable king size bed, fridge, nice coffee maker, efficient blinds that made the room pitch dark so we could sleep in. Our grandkids love to come over to visit and enjoy the pool. There were several tour groups of high school kids on DC trips. Our floor had a group of 40 from Madison, Wisconsin. They were very well chaperoned and polite. We never heard them or were bothered by them--seeing them only on the elevator, pool, and lobby. The staff is very helpful and friendly. Only negative--parking is quite expensive. (but it is everywhere around DC)

Room Tip: The view is so nice on the upper floors.

I recently arranged an event in the DC area. The Hilton Mark Center staff were very helpful in making the somewhat complex arrangements. All attendees seemed happy with the accommodations and service. The hotel provides a free shuttle to the metro station, so those without cars were free to roam DC at their on pace. The hotel breakfast buffet (thrown in with the package) was very nice. It is a great place for a conference.

Great for conferences, though the air conditioning is far too cold, even by US standards. The place operates well, all functions seems to run smoothly. Rooms could do with an update, though are adequate, beds are comfortable, spacious rooms, plenty of cupboard space and free wi fi if you are a HH member. Public areas could do also with a spruce-up and the cleaning could be a bit more thorough (under sofas is full of crumbs, as discovered during search for mobile phone). Restaurant and bar area serve good food, more than adequate choice for everyone, both full meals and snacks. Bar service very friendly. Lots of repeat customers seem to stay here, which is testimonial to friendly service. Would stay here again but would make sure that I got an upgrade as these rooms seem to be far nice. Shuttle service takes you to the Pentagon Mall, Reagon Airport, and into Alexandria old town free if charge.

Room Tip: Get HH Honours card for free wifi, check and see if you can get an upgrade. Dulles airport transfer...

Hotels in the DC area tend to be very spendy. This was very reasonable (paid <$100). Although it's a bit out of town, the free shuttle was adequate to get you to the Metro and once you're at a Metro station in the DC area, you've got it made. We had a very large room with a good view toward the Washington Monument-though it was a bit far away. The building is modern and immaculately maintained. The on site restaurant was quite good, although we only had breakfast and a light dinner and drinks there. There are other restaurants as well as grocery and drug stores within easy walking distance-the nearest ABC liquor store is a bit farther out, but still walkable if you don't have a car. There is a major metro bus depot in the same complex-we didn't use it, but I'm certain it would open up more opportunities for getting around easily. I think the parking charge is a huge ripoff, but we didn't have a car, so that wasn't an issue for us personally. I would rate all of the staff as top notch and professional. We had two relatively minor issues which they took very seriously and acted on promptly. In both cases, they also gave us free breakfast for our inconvenience-which I felt was much more than they needed to do. If this hotel were located in a more central area, it would warrant a "5", but would probably cost at least twice as much. If you can deal with depending on a hotel shuttle or have your own car and can accept the parking charge-you should consider this hotel very seriously.

Room Tip: The higher the better-that's always true. Ask for a view toward the Capitol. Corner and balcony...

All the amenities needed for a great conference. Great views depending on which side of the hotel. Cleaning of common areas, like elevators and hallways could use a little more attention as well as the rooms... bathroom was iffy. General grime from makeup, coffee etc splashed on the bathroom door. Cracked, broken and moldy tile in the bathroom. Not the kind of Hilton room condition I'm used to.

Room Tip: I believe the Capital view was very nice. Due to large volume of guests I believe they do not spend...
