“nice stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2011

This is a well kept and clean hotel. I really have nothing bad to say about it....the only thing is that after staying at some Hilton Garden Hotels where I enjoyed the free tea in the front lobby....I wish this one and other Hiltons would do the same. Besides that I can honestly say I would return to this hotel and would gladly recommend it! :)

Room Tip: we stayed in a king corner room...a very nice room if you can stay on a higher floor you will get a...

The conference rooms, ballrooms, lobby and other meeting facilities were great, lots of meeting options. Good sushi in the hotel restaurant, we also had a decent breakfast there, a little pricey. The free shuttle runs every 40 minutes or so, in a loop to Nat'l Airport and then the Pentagon Mall/Metro stop. The shuttle drivers were very friendly and helpful, and it was always on time. The Pentagon Mall is very large, and has a big food court. Free Wi-Fi at hotel, in the lobby as well as the rooms, but using the Business Center is complicated/a pain to try to get something to print. Sandy at the front desk helped us with printing, a few times.
Indoor/Outdoor Pool is being remodeled sometime soon, but it was OK, as was the exercise room.
We had a room with double beds, very comfortable, nice comfortable bedding. I did check for bed bugs, did not see any.
There was mold in shower, and housekeeping overall was "so-so." We were there during a heat wave and the ice makers on several floors were broken - probably from overuse. Decent size mini fridge in room. We were on the 6th floor, no view, it was quiet even though there were loud parties downstairs.

My husband and I needed to find a place to stay near our house while our central air was being replaced so we picked the Hilton at Mark Center. It is a very tall structure and if you are fortunate to get a room on a high floor, you can have a view of Washington DC. At our price point, we had a choice of a corner room with king bed or a room in what they call the "retreat". We decided to try the Retreat and were very pleased. Room was a good size with very comfy beds and a balcony overlooking a pond with fountain.

Since I live nearby, I am aware that the Hilton bought this hotel from another chain approximately 5 years ago. The previous owner had let the property run down. Therefore, the Hilton is making major updates. In fact, it appears the room we had (338 in the Retreat), had recently been updated with new mattresses and they were installing new carpeting as we were leaving.

The lobby bar is adequate, but other lobby furnishings outside of conference areas are still in need of updates. Since there is a new government office complex opening in another month, I expect the Hilton is escalating their updates to be ready to accommodate the new business that will be generated by having 6,000 new government employees across the street.

The hotel has the expected amenities except for a spa and I really, really needed a massage. Nice pool that goes from inside to out and a good restaurant.

They do charge for internet access ($10/day) and they charge for parking ($15/day). The issue with parking is that there is no option. Onstreet parking does not exist so you are stuck unless you don't drive.

All in all... it was a good experience and I would definitely stay again. Can't wait to see it when renovations are complete.

Room Tip: Ask for corner room high up so you can get view of DC.

Positives: staff friendliness and helpfulness, especially with my grandsons, shuttle service, large breakfast, great beds. Pool in a garden-like setting with on-site lifeguard.

Negatives: losing battle in shower/bath with mold; otherwise clean. Elevators need refurbishing. Limited food choices around hotel except for on-site restaurant, but shuttle will take you to Metro with large shopping center and huge food court with great choices at reasonable prices.

Room Tip: Either ask for view room or patio room.

We stayed here for five nights during a family vacation to the DC area. The restaurant in the hotel served amazing sushi. The pool had a lifeguard on duty but closed at 10pm. There was no spa. The shuttle was reliable and ran between the motel, a metro stop and the airport every half of an hour. The grounds and the hotel are beautiful. Housekeeping was great and the room was very clean. The only complaint we had was that the air conditioning in the shuttles was not adequate. We would consider staying here again.

Stayed here for one night. Got the Room with 2 double bed special. Was worth the great rate and all the double bed rooms are recently renovated. The outdoor pool was nice. The one reason may not stay again was the distance from the Metro. We had stayed 2 nights in Old Town Alexandria and were close to the metro. We had to take a shuttle from the hotel to the Metro which was a 10 minute ride and had to wait 1/2 hour over on our return for the shuttle. Didn't feel safe in the neighborhood when we drove to Friday's Restaurant 2 miles away for dinner and to see 2 security guards walking around carrying guns. Many large apartment complexes around hotel.

This is a nice and clean hotel. Good price for a room with dbl queen beds. The A/C was quiet and beds comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The shuttle to the metro made going to DC easy. I read a review about bed bugs and it is absolutely not true. There is a charge for parking. It would be nice to have a bed and breakfast deal at this rate.
