Stayed here for a long weekend getaway with my husband in August 2014. We decided to stay in Alexandria instead of downtown DC because the summer hotel prices are so high in DC; also we wanted to explore Alexandria. Wow, was this a great decision. We may never stay in DC again. The King St. metro is a short walk from the hotel, through a quiet residential/ office bldg. area. The yellow line will take you straight in to the museums and National Mall. King Street is also a short and delightful walk. Our room was a studio suite and it was plenty big for the two of us. A fully equipped kitchen with a large refrigerator gave us the flexibility to store snacks and meals so we were able to pack a lunch every day. The service was very good in all areas, although one day the (very pleasant) cleaning staff must have been overwhelmed or understaffed, because our room was still not made up at 4:30 p.m.. The breakfast was excellent. I've never said that about a hotel's free breakfast, but this one included freshly sliced fruits, real eggs, oatmeal, potatoes, and sausage every morning. The exercise room is also better than average, with several cardio machines and a good selection of weight equipment. No pool here, but we didn't miss it. Ask for a room on an upper floor for a view of the river.
