“Hidden gym in Old Town”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 24, 2011

Great first visit will be back.
The low country lemonade is a great cocktail to start.
The heirloom tomato salad is delish as well as the cucumbers soaked in vinegar and very fresh!
Of course the oysters are great!
Had popcorn shrimp small portion which was plenty for one and a side of Mac and cheese (just like mom used to make) so good. Didn't have room for dessert but will next time.

“Wow is all I can say - will not be returning!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2011

Thought we had found our new fav restaurant, but last evening's espisode changed our minds! Server accused us of trying to get out of paying for an additional dozen oyster (5, not 6) and said no way that she had made a mistake. Really spoiled a nice evening and chance that we will be returning. We actually had dined here 3 times in the last 2 weeks. Mgr seemed unapologetic, although she did take the $12 off our bill. Come on, why would we lie about $12? The oysters were just our appetizer and all present agreed we had 5 dozen. Rude and unprofessional. Sorry, but if asked I will give this place a thumbs down. Way too many restaurants in Old Town with great service and good food.

“Thank you, Hank's for Great oysters and terrific service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 21, 2011

We had the platter of raw oysters of the day - six types, fresh and wonderful. Then we moved on to the Sake shooters then some fried oysters. These were the best fried oysters where you can actually taste the oyster since it does not get lost in an over-seasoned batter. And theremoulade it was served wwith was absolutley fantastic and complimented them nicely. If you go to Alexandria, it's definitely worth the trip.

“Best Fried Oysters on East Coast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2011

My wife and I enjoyed this small narrow restaurant on King Street in historic Alexandria. On a Friday evening, it took us about 20 minutes to be seated. We first had their selection of 12 oysters on the half shell from various places in North America. These were fun and interesting. Then we moved on to the main course: my wife had lobster bisque which was very good but not what you would normally expect. It was tomato based and unique... try it! I had the fried oyster plate. Absolutely the most perfectly breaded and fried oysters I have ever put between my lips. No other restaurant that I've eaten at has perfected the combination of oyster size, minimal but sufficient breading and proper cooking time to such a delicious level. The crafted beer was complimentary too. Our bill with 4 beers and 20% tip: $58.00 not bad!
