“Ask at Admissions Desk as to what is open before you pay!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2012 via mobile

After reading all the reviews online we were looking forward to visiting the memorial. We were informed at the front desk that there were no tours being given on the day of our visit, but you could pay the general admission of $5. We thought it would be a self guided tour. We come to find out that the only floors opened were the first & basement floors. Make sure you ask before you pay as to what is opened. If this is all that is opened dont bother! The person at front desk have no indication that most of the building was closed.

“A George Washington Memorial You Shouldn't Miss”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 12, 2012

This is an amazing building, and the exhibits are also great. You see this building every time you drive between Washington and Richmond, stop and see it! Full admission with 30 minute tour, which includes elevator trip to the top observation walk is only $8. The entry with the huge Washington statue is breathtaking. The big auditorium is another eye popping event. Everything is immaculate, huge amount of GW items. I'm not a Mason, but you learn a lot about Masons. If you've been to the Jefferson and Lincoln memorials, you have to visit this memorial. Staff knowledgeable and friendly. I went on a Monday, and there was hardly anyone there.

“More interesting history”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

What I liked about it: Learning about the history, something about Masons, having it as a beacon to find my way home (it's the tallest building (because it sits on a hill) and lit at night). The tour made it more interesting. They have a lovely auditorium where community meetings are sometimes held.

“The connection between this great man and his past as a mason”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

Although it's a very restrict, it's a collection of artifacts that must be seen. You can take the guided tour, that I lost and see, besides the first 2 floors, also the tower.

“Interesting design”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

Nice stained glass andsome history of the Masons but much of it is just weirdly beautiful. I didn't feel I got a good feel for what the Masons were all about.
