“Gadsby's Tavern Lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2013

Great food at lunch at good prices. Go around 11:30AM. Get Key to City book ($9) at Visitor's Center on King St near waterfront. Gets you $5 off meal and free entrance to other historic sites. Went back again for the Ale battered Cod for kunch.

“Amazing History and Great Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

As the waiter said--"George probably sat here", that started our historic evening. The tavern is really charming, and the food is fantastic, a not to miss when in Alexandria

“Washington ate here”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

A great piece of history to see what early Americans did to unwind. Not a lot to offer but in those days a warm place a a good drink meant a lot.

“Nice little museum”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2013

Easy walk from King Street and worth it if you like history. Short guided tour, 20 minutes or so, but shows and explained life during the late 1700's early 1800's. Great example of a period tavern.

“Forget history, it's all about the food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 10, 2013

We visited in July of 2006 and Jan of 2007. Both times our meals were better than any meal we had eaten at any other independent or chain restaurant ever. The historic element serves a purpose all its own, but you do not have to be reminiscent of history to visit Gadsby's. They could move to a 21st century office building with sterile walls and cold atmosphere and still deliver delicious entrees.
