We are so pleased we decided to visit Virginia and not just Washington and New York on our very first visit to the US. Our choice of Afton Mountain B&B for a relaxing 3 night break made our trip just perfect. We loved everything about it! Hosts Dan and Orquida made us so welcome and were helpful in every way, even providing a printout of the best route to our hotel in New York on leaving. Our room was charming and comfortable, the linen luxurious and the delicious breakfasts a treat.
The information on local restaurants was a boon and we would have liked to try more - and return to those we did visit!
The house is well positioned for visiting this beautiful area and we would have happily spent much longer there.

Dan and Orquida have done a wonderful job turning this into a successful Bed and Breakfast. Their location, 15 minutes outside of Charlottesville, means that there aren't UVA students running around everywhere, but it also means that they're close to a number of other cute Virginia towns. They really seem to enjoy meeting and greeting everybody, and creating delicious experiments for breakfast!
Best part - their dog has the softest fur! Definitely would go back to Afton Mountain.

We stayed at the Afton Inn for three nights in October. The entire Inn is lovely, including our room, the Shenandoah. Orquida and Dan are wonderful hosts, very helpful and hospitable in every way. Breakfasts were delicious, and we enjoyed chatting and sharing recommendations with other guests. If you are planning a visit to this beautiful part of the country, we can heartily recommend Afton Mountain. Also, there is an authentic Italian family restaurant nearby -- fabulous!

This was a great stay at a lovely B&B. Orquida cooked up a very delicious breakfast on both days and we were delighted with their hospitality. This inn is very near (5 minutes away) from the beautiful Shenandoah National Park and also the Blue Ridge Parkway - absolutely gorgeous drives.

Highly recommend.

We picked this inn because of its location - we needed somewhere near the bottom of the Shenandoah National Park and near to Monticello. It looked quite nice on the website, but the reality was much more impressive. The house itself is absolutely beautiful and very well maintained in a traditional Victorian style - the owners have done an incredible job restoring it. Our bedroom (the ‘Jefferson’) was equally stunning. A huge four-poster bed, and wonderfully furnished. Despite our arriving horrendously late, Orquida, the owner, was very friendly and even brought us sodas and home-made cookies as it was too late to go to a restaurant. The Breakfasts were really tasty too, and there is even a league table of local restaurants based on previous guests’ comments - we’d recommend Duners - it doesn’t look like too much from the outside but the food was superb. We didn’t get a chance to visit any, but there are many vineyards in the area, and it’s ideally placed for exploring the Blue Ridge Mountains. Definitely recommended.
