“A touch of Americana”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 23, 2012

I got the chance to visit Afton Mountain B&B over the weekend and just loved it. From the moment my husband and I entered, we felt so welcome. It's historic and beautifully preserved, yet still offers plenty of what we look for like whirlpool tubs and luxurious beds. The Ingrahams are incredibly welcoming innkeepers, the yummy bars that they leave for guests looked so tempting (yet I was good to my diet)!. The glow from the stained glass windows when you enter just lasts throughout the visit. The roses were in full bloom in the gorgeous gardens next to the inn, along with pleny of Iris's too.

It's in the perfect location for a wine tasting tour or visiting Monticello and Ashlawn-Highland too.

I highly recommend Afton Mountain B&B to all couples!

Room Tip: I thought all the rooms I saw were lovely.

We very much enjoyed our stay. The back porch, the fresh baked cookies, delicious breakfasts, and comfortable rooms will definitely bring us back again. The owners are there when you need them and give you the space and privacy you need to enjoy your vacation.

Afton Mountain B&B was a great Place to stay for a romantic weekend. Perfect location for access to vineyards and Wintergreen (try the plunge!). We stayed in the looking glass room, which was nicely furnished with a good-sized bathroom. The room was also warm, which was nice on a cold weekend. The only complaint about the room was the empty shampoo/conditioner dispensers and the headboard that was a little shaky. The B&B had homemade chocolate chip cookies, hot chocolate, tea, coffee, and sodas available along with wine glasses and bottle openers. Previous reviewers complained about thin walls, but we didn't notice them being particularly thin. I do sleep with white noise, but I didn't hear anyone else any time. While we were there, the B&B was run by inn-sitters, who were fabulous and made you feel at home without being overly invasive and creepy (which we have experienced other places). Breakfast was delicious and, since I'm allergic to soy, all my breakfast dishes were soy-free. The inn-sitters also had great recommendations for local restaurants and things to do, along with a host of information available in one of the rooms downstairs (including menus). There are even games available, so we made use of the playing cards. No TV in the room, but we thought that was a nice feature. And cell phones barely worked... Also very nice. They do have wireless Internet, so we could still research the area (even robust enough to stream Netflix). Try the Blue Mountain Brewery for dinner (the bratwurst and apple pizza is amazing... And so are their other pizzas) and Paulie's Pig Out for lunch. Overall, it was a very relaxing, romantic, and comfortable weekend!

I have been to quite a few B&B's and this was by far the best. The owners made us feel right at home and comfortable. There were homemade cookies in the evenings with access to drinks hot and cold 24/7. Breakfast was made every morning and it was delicious. The owners were very helpful with things to do and where to eat. When we picked a restaurant, we were instanly handed a slip of paper with directions from the inn. We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: We stayed in the mornington rooom and it was very comfortable.

We travled to Virginia and stayed at Afton Mountain B&B the week following Christmas 2011. The breakfast was fabulous, the room was clean and cozy, and the atmosphere in the house was just like home. The evening cookies were outstanding. The location of Afton Mountain B&B is very centrally located in the area; near the interstate, quick travel to Staunton, Waynesboro, and Charlottesville, 15 miles and a beautiful drive to Walton's Mountain, surrounded by the local winery's, and plenty of locally owned restaurants and breweries. Cell phone service was 5 bars. Free WiFi.

Room Tip: Loved our room which was The Looking Glass, but will definitely stay in the Mornington Room on our n...

I wanted to take my wife somewhere she could relax and have a great weekend for her birthday. Afton Mountain Bed and Breakfast definitely delivered on that. Orquida and Dan were such great hosts and took care of everything for us. They suggested great places to eat and visit. Our room, The Mornington, was gorgeous! Very warm and inviting. The bed was very comfortable and the whirlpool tub was fantastic. The afternoon treats were so very, very tasty. Orquida's cookies are the best!! We got the Romance Package and it was above and beyond what I expected. The hors d'oeuvres were to die for and the wine really hit the spot after walking around Wintergreen. The whole entire inn was very clean and very inviting. It is definitely a jewel nestled in the mountain. We will definitely be back!!

Enjoyed a nice stay at the Afton Mountain Bed and Breakfast. The owners were extremely nice and very eager to please. I know that it is not a huge deal, but I would have greatly enjoyed a televison in the room. The room was very nice, but a little small. Breakfast was very good, but not as plentiful as we have enjoyed as other bed and breakfasts. The location is great, as you can get to numerous wineries, the Blue Ridge Pkwy, and Charlottesville area very easily.
