My mom and I decided to get out of the Washington DC area and take an extended weekend trip down route 81. It was easy! We drove two hours, stopped in Harrisonburg for breakfast. Then drove two more hours and stopped in Blacksburg, visited with friends and had lunch. Then we drove two more hours and arrived at our destination - The Inn at Town Creek. We were met by Linda who showed my mom to our rooms while I got our baggage from the car. Our beautifully furnished rooms included a shared bath and our own kitchen. (We stayed in the Brookside and Veranda rooms) The house is gorgeous with antiques inside and exquisite gardens and grounds outside. My view had a view of the carefully landscaped grounds and quiet creek while my mom's was off the patio. The beautiful patio off our suite was where everyone gathered for hearty breakfasts in the mornings. We happened to pick a weekend of the famed Highlands festival. People at the inn had come from all around to attend the festivities and look for antiques and gracious art pieces. All in all we were very satisfied and would certainly go back to visit the Inn and Town Creek again!
