Great food, outstanding scenery, close to shopping (Manchester, VT) and historical areas (Bennington, VT). My wife & I spent 2 nights at Hill Farm Inn but it wasn't long enough. There is much to see and do in the area. Lisa & Al Gray are wonderful and friendly hosts. I got to go fly fishing with guide Marty Oakland, while my wife went to the Norman Rockwell museum and shopping. Make sure you say hello to the animals, especially Wilbur the pot bellied pig! We will definitely go there again!

We stayed in the inn's main house (there are also several separate guest cottages that looked nice from the outside). It's an 1830s farmhouse that could use an overhaul. I found myself imagining the place with fresh paint, leveled floors, updated bathrooms and new carpet, but perhaps that would only ruin its charm. While not a luxury getaway, the important features (lovely hosts, gorgeous setting, comfortable bed, great breakfast) were in abundance. Overall, I'd choose this inn over someplace more chic with less heart. The owners keep several farm animals (goats, pigs, horses, sheep) that you can feed and play with -- especially great for kids, but fun for adults too. And the breakfast menu is well above average B&B fare. The innkeepers are friendly and helpful, and the views are spectacular. If you can deal with a slightly funky bathroom and not the most beautiful room you'll ever see (but with cushy pillow-top bed), I wholeheartedly recommend this inn.

my husband and i stayed here while we were on a trip to new england and we loved it! the area is so quaint and the inn is charming. the owners live and work there and are so friendly. a big breakfast of blueberry pancakes starts you off right! we spent time walking around meeting all the animals, goats, a horse, a pig, sheep, and 2 cats. the goats love to be fed grass and followed us around all morning! we staying in a room that is separate from the main house. it was huge with a kitchen and fireplace. the decorating in that room wasnt my favorite but it was cozy. we only stayed 1 night but i wish we had stayed longer!

I discovered Hill Farm Inn a few years ago and make it a point to go back twice a year. It is off the beaten path, yet close to any shopping, dining, or activities that you might want. The setting is peaceful and beautiful, on the Battenkill river with mountains all around. The accommodations are lovely, the food is great, the innkeepers, Lisa and Al, are very friendly and helpful. The farm animals are fun. too. It's a wonderful place to relax. If you are looking for an old-fashioned Vermont Inn, but with all the amenities, you will love it.

This is our third year staying at the Hill Farm Inn. My wife and I enjoy ourselves and find it hard to come home. The Inn keepers are very accommodating and have spent some time getting to know our likes and dislikes. We have stayed at other places in this area and have been happy with them also, but the Hill Farm Inn has a charm and a layed back country feel that you will not get at some of the other Inns in this area. We will be back soon!
