“A Nice Secluded Spot”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2010

A very nice spot to relax and take in the country air. No TV....no clock in the room which was just fine with us. The innkeeper was very cordial and helpful. From this location, we were able to launch a couple of day trips to sites in central and southern Vermont. The food -- breakfast and dinner -- were superb. The grounds were well maintained and the circular garden was pretty neat. The room furniture could have used a bit updating but I guess that contributes to the charm of the inn. We hope to come back soon.

This vacation was amazing! We found the inn on a fluke searching a Vermont travel website. One look at the website and I was hooked...The pictures, the reviews and the descriptions were exactly as described and this inn met all our expectations 100%. We got a 3 day package which included 3 nights accommodations, biking, canoeing and dinner. When I called to book the reservation for 5 nights, they added on a second partial package that gave me more dinners and a historical tour which gave me a better value for 5 nights stay. The room was beautiful, quiet, clean and relaxing. The breakfasts and dinners were amazing farm fresh and delicious. All the extra arrangements were handled for us, they just told us when to show up. The business and people we dealt with outside the inn were also top-notch. The scenery was breathtaking....lush, green with wild flowers everywhere! So many special touches, like the room journals of past guests, the llamas, the flower labyrinth, the take home violet....it all gave it that something extra. We thought we would miss the in-room TV...but with free WIFI we were able to stay connected, and brought movies on our laptops. We truly felt rejuvenated, refreshed and relaxed when we left. Not to mention very sorry to return home to the rat race! There are plenty of other inns in the area, but this one is truly a step above the rest. We are actively looking for available dates to return!

The West Mountain Inn is so good we've been going there every year since 1981. Sometimes we'll go two or three times during the year. All seasons are the best time to go! That's how wonderful it is. The food is great, the people are great and it's in a great loction to relax, or go for a walk or head out and go shopping. Try it and have fun!

We had the pleasure of staying at the West Mountain Inn for a weekend away this summer. The InnKeeper was lovely, knowledgable and helpful. The views from the Inn are absolutely spectacular. It is a pleasure to sit in the Adirondack chairs at the end of the day with a plate full of fresh fruit and artisan cheese and crackers while admiring the views (the Inn provides this wonderful assortment of goodies everyday at 6 PM). Our room was clean and spacious, the carpeting and bathroom could have used a little sprucing up, but overall, it was quiet and pleasant. The breakfast is absolutely yummy. You get some home baked goodies followed by an entree of your choice. The only quirky thing was the offering of dessert after breakfast, I am not sure I could slog down apple pie after eating muffins/cinnamon buns/pancakes and fruit. But, I guess it is nice of them to offer it. As for location, it is a great central spot if you are interested in southern VT or even that area of NY. We went Kayaking down the Battenkill river at a local outfitter in NY, it was the perfect day! You can't go wrong at this place.

My fiance and I stayed at the Inn to have a relaxing weekend. The mountain views, completely welcoming staff, beautiful garden and overall atmosphere made it a great stay. The 5 course dinner was outstanding, not to mention some of the best daily breakfast I've ever had. The hotel has miles of hiking trails on site, an alpaca farm, a river at the bottom of the hill and coffee, lemonade and cookies available 24/7. Our package included the room for 2 nights, daily breakfast, the dinner, a horseback ride, a welcome wine and cheese basket and a ticket to the top of Mt. Equinox. It came out to $260 per night (including gratuity) and every penny was very well spent. We will surely be returning in the fall for the foliage.

We have been staying at the West Mountain Inn at least once a year for the last 18 years. It is, hands down, the most welcoming place you will ever stay. The staff is most accomodating, so friendly, and very efficient. The rooms are uniquely charming. The food is outstanding. Nearby you can do as much or as little as you like--shopping, hiking, canoeing, snowshoeing, bicycle riding, horseback riding, whatever! There are beautiful areas all around for reading, praying, talking, or napping. You will not be disappointed.

From start to finish the west mountain inn was lovely. the grounds are well kept and include scenic views, hiking tralls, and a very friendly chipmunk. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the staff accommodating and friendly.
Complimentary local cheeses and fresh fruit were served in the bar prior to a delicious dinner in their dining room. Breakfast was cooked to order and did not disappoint. Looking forward to going back.
