“HATED TO LEAVE!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2006

Ignore the January 10th review...

As a respite from renovating our new home, we spent three nights at this lovely inn. The views from our room were magnificent and we have never experienced such incredible service before. It was so peaceful that we had to drag ourselves to go out for dinner. We tried to go canoeing and shopping in Manchester, but we couldn't wait to get back to the tranquility of the inn.

AVOID THE BEAN MEXICAN EATERY AND BAR in Manchester!!! I had a heavy air conditioner cover fall on my head at the table with my husband. All they gave me was a bag of ice and a dirty kitchen towel.

We stayed in a room overlooking the Green River (we were spoiled with the sounds of the river) and the lush and verdant knolls behind the property.

We were not expecting such a gourmet breakfast spread with fruit, crepes, etc. During the afternoon we had fresh warm blueberry scones and tea. Bob's cooking is excellent!

Bob and Carol are wonderful and warm people who made us feel at home. They decided to have a spontaneous Tuscan grill which was out of this world. I noticed that Carol was assisting a guest with wedding planning. She was very attentive, patient and made excellent suggestions. The grounds and the inn's layout is PERFECT for a wedding.

Our room's rate was an excellent value which CANNOT be beat.

I am extremely fussy and high maintenance traveller so I'm not sure where the January 10th review came from. If you'd like more details, please feel free to contact me.

My husband and I drove many miles to stay in a lovely setting but it was all spoiled when the owners would not give our money back for the one night we had no choice but to go back home. We told the owners of the Green River Inn that my husband's brother had a stroke in the hospital and we stayed 2 days at the inn with calling his brother many times a day in front of the owners. We informed them that his brother had a stroke and would probably have to leave before the 3rd and last day we had booked. His brother got much worse on the 2nd day we were there. THey had lots of time to give us our money back when we told them we had to leave and drive all the way back to Tn. It was so sinful and awful the would not!! We were charged the FULL amount of a room we never used but did stay 2 nights!!!! We wrote and asked many times for our money back but they kept sending us advertisements to come back!!!!!!! Don't go and be ripped off by these greedy money grabbing people. Thank You

Great Inn nested away from the Vermont Tourist noise yet just minutes away from main street (Rt 7A) Manchester. The InnKeepers, Bob & Carol, are wonderful hosts, breakfast is provided from 8:00am to 9:00am, various rooms to choose from based on options desired, & the rooms are very clean. Compared to other Inns near the area, the price is reasonable. Local Country store just minutes away provide great vermont sandwiches at reasonable prices. For Horse competitors, the inn is just about 20 minutes from horse show grounds in East Dorset (if you take Rt 313 & get onto Rt 7N).

I flew out with my wife from Sacramento, California, to re-visit where my family used to live in Bennington, VT. Booked a couple of nights at the Green River Inn during foliage season, October '04.

An outstanding inn. Great customer service provided by Bob and Carol, beautiful surroundings, excellent country breakfasts... With the explosion of color all around us (my wife had only heard about New England autumns... being there in person blew her mind), combined with the great room we had- we let our regular everyday lives disappear (kids? What kids? Jobs? We have those? Etc etc etc), and were totally free for 2 outstanding, memorable days.

We plan on making the Green River a once a year experience. Bob and Carol, keep up the good work!!!

We just stayed at Green River on July 4th. We had a wonderful time. The inn was lovely and breakfast was delicious. The innkeepers were friendly and really aimed to please. It is a very relaxing and comfortable place to be.

Went to the Green River Inn Memorial Weekend 2003 and it was picture perfect. The land that they have availble to their guests is amazing. The room we stayed in was nice sized, very comfortable and clean. Our view from lying in bed were gorgeous mountains and valleys, and you could hear the river running as well. We are heading back there in a few weeks to stay there again. All in all, a great place to stay with a hearty and delicious breakfast included!

I read about this inn on an article and decided to book a room for our weekend trip to Southern Vermont. The inn is set in a beautiful quiet country road and there's a river that runs through the property. Choose a riverside room if you can and your window will be facing the backyard, open spaces and hills. You will also hear the rivers and the sun comes through your window in the morning. Our room was neat and clean, it is just a great place to relax and enjoy the country. It is very quiet and serene, yet it is a short drive to many activities and attractions. I confidently recommend it to anyone.
