I tried to reserve a room here through the website (if you're determined to stay here, don't use the website -- the rates aren't accurate) and they charged my card for $45/night more than the highest rate listed on the site. When I tried to cancel the second they told me how much they charged my card, I was told that it was fine but that I'd be charged a $25 cancellation fee. I tried to persuade them to make an exception for their fee since I thought they were charging me a different amount, and I got a string of insulting and condescending emails and have had to report them to the Better Business Bureau. This was really appalling business practice.

This comment about over charging is wrong. We post discounted rates on our website and these rates are usually for a certain time period only. We would never charge $45.00 extra over the price unless the guest show up with additional people which where not disclosed at the time of booking. A $20.00 per person surcharge would be the rate. Cancellation fees are charged when guest book arbitrarily the room and perhaps keep shopping around or booking in severeal places and then cancel the reservation. In a small business every room booked is off the availability list and could have been booked to other inquiring guest. This has a major impact on the business. It is a common practice in the industry and this region.
