From the service to the food, everything was wonderful! With a ski-in, ski-out location it makes getting on the slopes really easy. Speaking of the skiiing, it was great, even in April!
The room was great and my view of slopes was one I will not foget. I really loved being able to sit in the outdoor pool after at the end of the day and look at the mountains. It was worth every penny!

Really loved our stay at the Rustler. Four nights with three kids. Views on upper floors spectacular. The rooms were expensive (they all are on the mountain) but the breakfast-and-dinner-included aspect took some of the sting out. Rooms large and clean, great beds, nothing fancy (hello - it's a lodge, not the Four Seasons!), and - surprise - the food was excellent. I had literally the best omelettes of my life here, four mornings in a row.

You're being served here largely by ski-bum kids in their 20's (you can tell by the ski-goggle raccoon tans), so attitude and service varies. But we had no complaints. Kids seemed in good humor, even at tail end of the season, and they were really nice to our young 'uns.

Hot pool ... yessss. Very nice. Nothing like soaking in 95 degrees as a light snow tickles your ears. Otherworldly!

But the best thing about the Rustler is the atmosphere. Family-friendly, casual, and when the lodge was forced by avalanche weather to accomodate 300+ trapped skiers, they did so with aplomb, without exploiting the situation (rooms were offered at $25/night, bunks for free) and with no real disruption to its regular clientele. Bar scene felt like a really good party. All this while another premier lodge nearby charged its normal $700/night rate to trapped day-skiiers!

The Rustler really showed its true colors in this crisis situation. For this display of hospitality alone, we'll be back!

My wife and I stayed at the Rustler for a conference at Snowbird. The room and bathroom were spacious, and the views of the mountains were splendid. The service was absolutely superb. Breakfast was nothing fancy, but I still dream about the coffee. The pool and gym were nice, and some good hiking is within a short drive. Dinner offerings are palatable, but the menu was pretty limited. Of the three nights we stayed at the Rustler, we only ate dinner there once. We were forced to stay at the Rustler because Snowbird's Cliff Lodge was fully booked. In the end, I was glad I stayed at the Rustler because it was quieter, and the rooms had better views.

My husband, sister, brother-in-law and myself spent a wonderful week at the Rustler in January. My husband and I stayed in one of the newer rooms and it was great. Very spacious and had a fabulous bathtub!
My sister stayed in one of the older rooms which was equally great. Both rooms had a breathtaking views of the Alta slopes. The food was outstanding and the wait staff were very friendly. My sister had a massage that she reported as excellant. We used the on site ski shop almost daily and received knowledgeable information about their equipment. We loved the fact that most people have been coming there for 30 years or more. I only hope that we can too!

Staying at the Rustler was the biggest disappointment of my ski trip to Alta. The rooms were small, cramped, and overpriced, the service was below average, and the staff was downright nasty. I have travelled to Utah at least 24 times in the past 12 years on various ski trips, and never have I experienced such rude treatmant of guests. I would recommend ANYWHERE in Alta besides the Rustler Lodge. It's a shame, because their location is great.
