“Under renovations while there”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

The hotel was fine except that services were limited since the Radisson was under renovations while in Austin for a conference. I would not have minded so much except that when I booked, there was no mention that there wouldn't be a restaurant so, I did eat there but was very limited to the front reception area and the food, as well as the refreshments, were extremely limited. For example, the only wine they had to accompany our dinner (hamburgers at that!) was a Riesling and that was that! They even ran out of corona beer that same night - ah the woes of renovations!
The staff were very nice and the hotel room was accommodating, as well as the location to the conference centre, which was just a few blocks away.
I would probably stay here again but would check to ensure that it was functioning 100% before I booked.

I looked forward to watching the Sunday night NFL game in the TGIF bar, only to find that the restaurant had closed two months ago. Although reportedly under construction, there was no practical solution to eating onsite. It's a couple of blocks to The Cedar Door, which satisfied my entertainment and meal needs. The room was enormous, with a beautiful view of the Colorado River. The decor seems a couple of decades old, and could use refreshing. The Sleep Number bed was great. The front desk staff were very personable and accommodating of my billing needs. The "grab and go" continental breakfast was adequate but fell short of my favorite meal choices.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the Colorado, which affords viewing of bats leaving a nearby Congress Ave brid...

Nice stay at the Radisson. The hotel has a nice lobby, and although we didn't get one of the renovated rooms, our room was spacious and clean. Love the sleep number. Staff was friendly and enjoyed the pool. Good vibe and the misters and fans on the lounge chairs surrounding the pool made the heat bearable. You can walk to the places to eat on Congress and Rainey street and also to 6th street, if your into that kind of thing. Only downside is the price of drinks at the poolside service. Guess they charge the regular room service rates because my husband paid $7.50 for a michelob ultra. We had it charged to the room so we didn't realize there was the room service fee and instant gratuity. We wouldn't have tipped the extra money if we had known. Just saying we have stayed at other places, and they did not charge the room service rates at the pool. Despite that it was a great place to stay and right on the Congress bridge so you can see the bats and go for a nice run or bike ride. Would stay again.

We came to Austin for our bachelor/bachelorette parties. We picked this hotel bc it was close to everything and the rate was great. It's minutes from congress where there is tons to do. If you want a cab $5 can get you far. 6 St was a few blocks down and the walk was not that bad. It's in a safe location and offered great service. The rooms are super clean and beds are comfy. The ac works ok, it you like it super cold it won't get that cold. We had a change of plans and needed to go back to Austin for another day and we decided to stay at the same place. Over all I give them a10!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the north side have less sun.

First of all, you cannot beat the location. It's right downtown within walking distance to 6th street and Town Lake (or is it Lady Bird Lake now?). The absolutely best part about this hotel are the beds. They were incredibly comfortable and the pillows were fantastic. The sheets were pretty soft for a hotel. It was also VERY quiet. You could not hear your neighbors at all or anyone walking above your head. All I want in a hotel is a nice quiet place to sleep and the Radisson delivered.

There's a full Starbucks in the lobby. Pool is also there but I didn't use it. The staff was very nice, helpful, and got us checked in a little early to our room since we arrived early. The only downside is that you have to pay $17 a night for parking which is kind of a rip off.

The hotel is a little dated but they're undergoing renovations at the moment. It's still pretty nice though the restaurant is closed so call ahead to see where they are on the updates. Honestly, at that location you don't need a restaurant with all the good food within walking distance.

Room Tip: I stayed city side and it was very quiet so either side is good.

This hotel is in a great location. Very close to 6th street and the "bat viewing bridge." It is also on the Town Lake hike/bike trails. I don't like the way parking in handled. I was told that I couldn't park out front to check in but had to park on the 3rd floor of the garage or hand over my car to the valet. I was hoping to check in quickly and meet my sister for dinner. Unfortunately didn't go quickly. Other than the parking issue and the restaurant being renovated, all went well.

I stayed here for a weekend, it was my first time in Austin and I got a fantastic deal on this hotel through Hotwire which saved me a substantial amount of money. I found the staff to be excellent very professional and helpful. The location is perfect in terms of being right in the main area and very close to not only the tourist sites but also fantastic restaurants and nightlife. My only complaint is the the hotel suffers from excessive traffic noise from the main road in front of it. I'm not sure how thick the glass windows are but I'd say pretty thin. If you are a light sleeper I would recommend asking for a room on the river side not the city side and get one higher up (we were on level through street side) and then you should have no problems. Australians LOVE AUSTIN such a fantastic little city and so much fun! I will be back again next year for sure.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the river side and up high to ensure a good night's sleep
