“Rather Decent”

Radisson Hotel & Suites Austin-Town Lake

Apr 11, 2008

The hotel has a great location next to the city trails (bike, run) and the bat bridge. As well, it is right downtown and within walking distance of of 6th street bars/restaurants.

The decor is decent overall. The lobby is nice and they have an in house Friday's and Starbucks. The Friday's bar was not typical; there was a lot of lighting due to the patio exterior glass walls that view out over the river.

Note: there is no indoor pool as the hotel.com site said. They only have an outdoor pool.... and no hot tub. ;(

The best thing about the hotel is noted in my first paragraph. The worst is that you are told NOT to park on the first 3 floors of the hotel's connected garage - that's only for valet. OK. So, if you are lucky enough to get the 4th floor then you have to take an elevator down, cross through the lobby (50 yards) to the other elevators that take you up to your room. Jeesh!

“Good Hotel, Rude Staff”

The hotel was lovely. When we went into the lobby, on late Saturday afternoon, they had 2 great live musicians playing in the lobby. Our friends who waited for us before they checked in didn't mind waiting because of the music. The man who waited on us at the front desk was nice until he checked our reservations and noticed we'd made them through travelocity. He immediately became rude and treated us rudely the rest of the time we were there. The hotel was not full, by any means, yet we were given horrible views of a dirty rooftop below us- coincidence? Who knows. Anyway, the accomodations were fine, no complaints about the rooms. But we approached the desk about 4 times during our stay (checking in, asking about valet, one other time, and checking out) and the same guy was rude to us the entire time! It was enough to make us not want to go back. Also, they had an Applebee's inside the hotel and that's where you go get breakfast. Sounds great until you look at the buffet prices! For the cereal, toast, oatmeal & fruit buffet- it was $9.95 and for that plus anything else (eggs, sausage, waffles, etc.) it was 12.95! The food was great, but one plate of food for 12.95? Wow! My friend wanted to eat a banana and a danish and was going to have to pay the $9.95- so she just didn't eat! Anyway- after we checked out and got the same rude treatment (I couldn't figure out why we always got the same guy!) we were walking out and I decided to stop and find out his name. I went to the desk and asked a woman if I could please have his name. She said, "Oh you mean (his name), the manager?" I was shocked!! I can't believe a manager would treat people the way he did. Maybe he will read this and treat others better than we were treated.

“Decent, if you get a good price”

Radisson Hotel & Suites Austin-Town Lake

Feb 24, 2008

This is a 3-star hotel - the location is great, and the rooms are okay - slightly noisy. Luckily, there was no one loud staying near us, so we were able to get a good nights rest, but the walls are very thin. That would be my only complaint. Otherwise, a decent place to stay if you pay a 3-star price. Don't go to TGI Fridays...

My company booked me here while I was in town for a tradeshow. The service at the hotel is terrible. I switched rooms and they had me sit in the room for 20 minutes waiting for them to call me back. i finally had to go all the way back down to get a new room. the second room smelled. the water for the shower changed temperature every few minutes, and the internet was spotty. I left my room in the am and by 2pm it still hadn't been cleaned. as a business traveler, this is completely unacceptable. management didn't seem too interested in fixing any of the issues. stay somewhere else!

This will be my first Tripadvisor review. Not because we don't use it, or have stayed at some fine hotels over the years, but because I was SO VERY compelled to tell you to stay away from this hotel.

Bottom line? If it were $60.00 a night, fine. But we booked a suite (the best price we could get anywhere even through Radisson was $280.00 with taxes).

I wouldn't even know where to start. The room was small, cramped. TOTALLY outdated (same decor you'd expect in a 70's howard johnson) and smelled. Plus the sofa-bed we planned to use for our two boys was something you'd expect from a roadside inn, not a $280.00 hotel.

As a result, we requested to be moved to a room with 2 double beds. Uh....BIG MISTAKE. This room was even more cramped, dark, outdated and disgusting (and to think they want $180.00 a night for THAT room). But since we booked on-line, we were stuck with our $280.00 rate. How lovely that we were put in a "Motel 6" style room with a view of nothing but the roof............all for $280.00. What a bargain huh?

So we then requested now a third room. This was a larger suite (which they claimed thet didn't have just 10 minutes before) but just as cramped, but this time?.... It included cigarette burns in the sleeper sofa, floor and bathroom sink!!!!!

But....we just bit our bottom lip and went on. Because we booked on-line? We were stuck, like it or not. Just tried to make the best of it.

The final insult? I just checked my on-line banking account. You guessed it. They charged us for the "new" room too. So now I have to call these fools and ask for our bank account to be credited.

More than anything. I hope you read this review and believe it. I wouldn't wish this hotel (for the price) on anyone. Take my word, this is NO EXAGGERATION. DO NOT stay at this hotel.
