Booked small group for UT/Ohio State game weekend at this modest Days Inn that is in the middle of remodeling.

Best rate for non-motel near downtown Austin and UT.

The rooms are very clean and the staff helped our group with local suggestions, directions and extra services.

I would give this hotel a solid 3 Stars.

FYI - Great Staff

  • Liked — Location near UT and Downtown Austin
  • Disliked — Very small pool
  • Tips/Secrets: — Take advantage of rates during remodeling period

My husband and I were in town for a weekend getaway, I had already made a reservation. Before booking I read reviews which by the way were only two at that time, none of which sounded bad at all. I looked at the photos and it looked about average. But let me tell you don't believe anything in those photos. When we got there, there was carpet in the parking lot that looked as if it had been pulled up out of a room or something but you could tell it had been sitting there a while. The parking lot was awful, I was scared to get out of my car and leave it parked outside. I told my husband maybe it just looked bad on the outside lets go inside to see if it was ok. First of all there was no ac running, there was a terrible smell throughout the building, and there were no lights on in the hallway. I asked the clerk if we could just view the room before paying and he agreed, but let me tell you. The room was soooo small there was no where to put our luggage, the bathroom sink was right next to the front door and the bathroom was so small if you weren't looking you could step out of the shower right into the toilet. I didn't even want to experince what the bed felt like as I was afraid I might have caugt something. The hallway had fixtures falling off the wall and wood peeling away from the doors. I told the clerk that I would be back seeing as though cancellation time was at 4:00 and at that time it was already about 5:30. My husband and I quickly found another place to stay and I called the clerk to cancel and she agreed to let me cancell my reservation, thank god. I could not see my self staying there for a romantic getaway and having to worry about my car being stolen or me catching soemthing from sleeping in that awful bed. Just a warning never stay at this place!!!!

Days Inn Austin Crossroads has been under new management since August 2006. The previous management indeed neglected the hotel and I want to assure anyone considering us that we have quickly corrected the service issues and done all needed repairs. In addition, we are completely renovating the entire property and plan to return it to its former state as one of the crown jewels in the Days Inn chain! We also now have a very professional staff of friendly, helpful desk clerks and wonderful housekeepers who do a great job keeping the hotel clean and comfortable. Thanks for your understanding and we hope you give us a chance to show you the service of which we are very proud.

The place is falling apart: sockets hanging out of the wall, frames teetering over the bath, and a dank smell of smoke lingering in the room. On top of which, if you think you can cleanse yourself, think again: there was no hot water during our stay and the only light about the sink didn't work. Overall, an appalling way to spend $50 - and, and they charge an extra $50 for a 6 pound pet - I would recommend staying anywhere else. To be avoided at all costs.

I really liked the hotel and found it a great place to stay in Austin... The king bed in my room was awsome and I thought I had found the perfect place to stay whenever I went to Austin. I am a golf pro and I go there once or twice a year to go to Golfsmith, which this hotel is close too... Problem first I checked in and on the sign it said 34.95 a night or 179.95 a week... The night guy was tired on check in (4am) so he said to talk to the guys the next day and confirm the weekly rate... I did the next day and the manager was not happy with me. He argued with me for 15 minutes and finally agreed to let me have the weekly rate and kept telling me I had to stay 7 days... Hey you think he would want me to stay a day and get my money... Anyway I just left the hotel a week later and when my accountant checked the bill the next month I was billed 278 dollars... Man thats alot of tax. I have tried to contact them several times and they are avoiding it... Nice place for the price and I wish I could go there again. Room was a bit and I mean just a bit small but really nice for 35 a night... If that is what they actually charge.. I should have been suspicious because my first day I saw a lady argue with the manager about her bill for 55 dollars and he said she was placed on the nice VIP 3rd floor and had to pay more... Looks like they try and pull a fast one on people.... BEWARE... MY advice raise the price 5 bucks a night and no tricks you have pretty nice rooms. For 2 dollars more then the motel 6 this place is a winner.
