We stayed at the Carriage House Inn in early May. My brother and his son had never stayed at a B and B before and were nervous that they wouldn't like the experience, but they ended up loving it! So much cozier than a hotel! The Inn is well situated for the University of TX at Austin, and the State Capitol, and the Dillo - the little shuttle that runs through the heart of the city.
Come for the location, stay for the food! Tressie (pronounced Tree - sie) served us a wonderful breakfast, the strawberries were organic and the best I've ever tasted, the coffee was excellent quality and fresh, and the waffle was divine. There were even homemade truffles awaiting our arrival. We were situated in the little annex to the main Inn, and had all the privacy we could have wanted. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfy, and if you need anything at all, the staff will bend over backwards to accomodate you, direct you, get information for you, help you out in any way they can.
I fully recommend the Carriage House Inn, you'll really feel the personal touch, from the sweet decor of the bedrooms to the friendliness of all the staff, to the lovely yards. It's clean, safe, reasonably priced, well located, and a wonderful sanctuary from the heat and noise of the city.
