“Ideally situated, pleasant inn”

1110 Carriage House Inn

Jun 18, 2008

We stayed at the Carriage House Inn in early May. My brother and his son had never stayed at a B and B before and were nervous that they wouldn't like the experience, but they ended up loving it! So much cozier than a hotel! The Inn is well situated for the University of TX at Austin, and the State Capitol, and the Dillo - the little shuttle that runs through the heart of the city.

Come for the location, stay for the food! Tressie (pronounced Tree - sie) served us a wonderful breakfast, the strawberries were organic and the best I've ever tasted, the coffee was excellent quality and fresh, and the waffle was divine. There were even homemade truffles awaiting our arrival. We were situated in the little annex to the main Inn, and had all the privacy we could have wanted. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfy, and if you need anything at all, the staff will bend over backwards to accomodate you, direct you, get information for you, help you out in any way they can.

I fully recommend the Carriage House Inn, you'll really feel the personal touch, from the sweet decor of the bedrooms to the friendliness of all the staff, to the lovely yards. It's clean, safe, reasonably priced, well located, and a wonderful sanctuary from the heat and noise of the city.

“Great!”

1110 Carriage House Inn

Jun 1, 2008

My husband and I just stayed here this past weekend. We were in Austin for a wedding and booked the Carriage House Inn because it was within walking distance to the church and reception.

We enjoyed everything about the Inn. Our room was super, very clean, lots of amenities. The breakfasts were fantastic and healthy. Plenty of parking on the street. The Inn keeper was cheerful, friendly and helpful - very chatty but that was OK.

I would recommend this B&B to anyone visiting Austin.

“Completely Perfect Weekend”

My fiancé reserved the rooms for our weekend getaway. When he told me how reasonable the rates were, I really didn't expect we'd be staying at an inn right out of a storybook.

Since we drove into town from Dallas on a Friday night, we didn't arrive until well after dark when everyone was asleep. The innkeeper had sent us detailed instructions, so getting into the cottage suite and our room was easy, and there was even a little snack waiting for us in the fridge!

On a spring morning the grounds are just wondrous. All colors of flowers blossom from every corner and the whole place seems to be bursting open with wildlife. I kept giggling at the strange sounds of bird songs I'd never heard before. As for bugs, my only encounters with insects involved ladybugs and pretty green garden beetles.

If you can only spend one night in Austin, you should at least stay here for the breakfast. The innkeeper is a culinary magician who obviously takes great pride in her creativity. My fiancé and I are vegan, and where many chefs might sigh in annoyance, ours responded with delighted enthusiasm and cornmeal waffles, sausage, grits, homemade bread...all painstakingly customized to our very picky tastes and all supremely delicious. The first morning we sat in the dining room, a couple seated next to us had received their own personalized breakfast as well, a high-carb meal prepared for the energetic day they had planned. Not only does the inkeeper create all her own recipes from scratch, but she is more than happy to discuss her techniques and ingredients in detail. Foodies, you've found a new friend.

I think the reason this place really struck a chord with me is its ability to fall into a seemingly effortless balance. The grounds are tidy but not too manicured, the atmosphere is folksy but not kitschy and the inn manages an elegant sophistication without being cold. I plan on recommending the Carriage House to everyone I know and can't wait to come back at the first opportunity.

“Best Place to Stay In Austin!”

The Carriage House Inn is the best place for business travelers (or any other traveler) to stay in Austin! In response to the traveler who wrote the review about bedbugs, I can tell you with 100% certainty that they are being dishonest. I stayed in the exact same room as that person, the day after they were there, and did not experience any problems. I've stayed at the Carriage House Inn multiple times, in that same room, and it is spotless every time. The inn is cared for meticulously and it is cleaner than any large chain hotel I've ever stayed at. Please don't let the bedbug report sway you from staying at this charming bed and breakfast! It's my home away from home on business, and I will continue staying here in the years to come.

I stayed at the Carriage House Inn recently while visiting my daughter to help paint her house. This B & B is just lovely, the grounds are beautiful and my God, the breakfasts are divine. An absolutely fabulous place to unwind and regroup. Will recommend to all my friends.
