We stayed at this motel for 1 night, it wasn't very cheap but it's worth every penny:
1: Cleanliness was very good
2: Service was very important to the staff, they helped immediately if you had a problem or a question
3: Free high speed internet access: not wireless but the cable was included in the room, so it was no problem and we finally could send some photos home
4: Microvawe and fridge which worked fine and were clean
5: great breakfast for free with everything you desire including starbucks coffee
6: free dessert in the evening (fresh fruits, cake, cookies and juice were offered
7: entertainment: Large TV with DVD player in the room and lots of DVDs in the lobby which you could borrow for free or Nintendo Wii in the lobby
8: pillows: there were all different kinds of pillows in the lobby of which you could choose one if you don't want the regular pillows

It was one of the best hotel experiences in our vacation and we would definately go there again! We have stayed in 5 star hotels before and know what we are talking about but if you go to a Super 8 Motel you don't expect this! It was really great! The only negative point I have to give them is that they don't have a swimming pool. But actually we didn't have time to go swimming anyway.

Let me start by saying this is not an average Super 8. I'm sure it's a lovely hotel chain, but this particular location had way more amenities than I would have ever imagined.

My first experience with the hotel was calling for the airport shuttle when I arrived in Austin. The young lady was very kind and arrived in about 5 minutes. The shuttle was clearly marked and very comfortable. My husband had arrived the night before. He said check-in was effortless.

The room was a little small, but we really only needed it for a place to lay our heads. There was a large tv, DVD and VHS player, as well as a microwave/fridge, and chair with an ottoman. The bed was excellent, nay, heavenly. They had a "pillow bar" where you could borrow/purchase special pillows (body, memory foam, mp3 hook-up, etc). We actually did rent (small fee) a couple of movies that they had at the front desk. They had an excellent selection of fairly new and family films. The hotel also shows two free movies each night.

There was reasonable space in the bathroom on the counter and the shower had excellent water pressure.

They had a little electronic massage chair in the lobby. It's a little 3-foot-tall thing, but it is great. They also had individually packaged ice cream for sale. Between 6 and 9 they had coconut cake and various cookies as well as some kind of crystal light type beverage for free.

I really liked the breakfast bar. It reminded me of a Hampton Inn spread, but with Texas shaped waffles. I was so pleased.

The hotel was immaculate and I didn't notice any smells or anything distasteful at all as did some other reviewer. There is a Jack In The Box restaurant in a shared parking lot. I loved it. We don't have J.I.T.B. where we live. They have great tacos and milkshakes.

I also think I need to add that, yes, you should probably have a GPS in Austin. There is a lot to find. I mention this because another reviewer said the hotel was in the middle of nowhere. In fact it was only minutes from the University/downtown area, shopping areas, and there are several dining options on the access road nearby. The location was great because if it had been downtown we would have been stuck in traffic for quite a while.

I can't think of anything negative about this hotel. I would most definitely stay here again. It was so convenient and well worth the money.

My teen son and I stayed at this hotel overnight per reviews on Trip Advisor.com. We were not disappointed ! This hotel was an unbelievable value. The room (and hotel) was beautifully appointed with elegant amenities, surely found only in hotels priced two to three times the room rate we paid. Had I entered the hotel with my eyes closed no one would’ve ever convinced me I was at a Super 8 hotel, especially for the price. The room had a refrigerator, microwave, and a large screen TV with built in VHS and DVD player. The bathroom even had a weigh scale. The beds were very comfortable. The wireless internet worked flawlessly. The A/C system worked great. The hotel staff and service were superb and even had delicious goodies in the lobby upon our arrival. The desk receptionist gave great dinner recommendations and even provided discount coupons which we took advantage of. Finally, the complimentary breakfast was unbelievable as it included more than an expected continental breakfast with real eggs, meat, and waffles ! (Texas style) .. and it was all delicious ! The only minor inconvenience I found was that the exercise room was somewhat small and cramped and the single treadmill did not work properly. Otherwise this was a great stay – my son wanted to check in for a couple more nights, but alas, it couldn’t be accommodated in our plans. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

We just returned from a 3 night stay...We got the room as part of a discount travel site package deal. Here's the scoop regarding this property:

Location: Very convenient to downtown...It is just off the highway under the bridge in an industrial business type setting...There is a Jack in the Box in the parking lot and a Wendy's within the block, but no other businesses such as a drug store or grocery store. The setting is NOT glamorous at all, but we did like the proximity to downtown. It is about 10 minutes from the airport, so it is convenient all the way around.

Interiors: The property is relatively new and nicely maintained, It is clean and well appointed. Super 8 is in the process of updating its guest rooms and we were taken aback by our walls which were BRIGHT turquoise, (but fun!) once we adjusted to them! We had a king bed and it was comfortable but when we asked for an additional blanket, we were told they didn't have one! The next night we were given a down comforter which I think was really an insert piece to a coverlet...Strange, but at least we didn't freeze!

Amenities: We did enjoy the goody bag offered at check in and we loved the movies and small library! Breakfast was a very nice selection of fruits, biscuits, and do it yourself waffles, which was great! I was surprised the breakfast was so nicely done in a budget property such as Super 8.

I was really pleased with the overall experience. Do keep in mind that this is a budget property, and in that context it is quite alot for the money!!
The one comment I would make is that if budget allows, I would opt next time to stay in the downtown area, just for convenience!
Two suggestions: Definitely go see the bats at the Congress Street bridge, and we LOVED Ray's Dueling Piano Bar for a fun night on the town!

True to the previous reviews on Trip Advisor, we found the Super 8 Motel Airport South to be just what we expected. The hotel management has done everything right: The hotel is clean and well-maintained. The staff is pleasant and accommodating. The beds are comfortable. The rooms are cozy with pretty decor.

Reservations: We had no problems with making our reservation on the hotel Web site. The lady who checked in ahead of us complained that she selected a nonsmoking room and was dismayed to find that the hotel is 100% smoke-free. The hotel rep politely explained that it has been a nonsmoking hotel and has been for over a year. I think that she booked through AAA and that site has old information unfortunately. With a small child and husband who is allergic to smoke it wasn't a problem for us. We were stopping at the hotel only for 1 night on the way to our final destination and in fact we were running late on the road. I called ahead about a late check-in plus requested a 1st floor OR near the elevator due to health-issues. When we checked in around 8:30 pm we were pleasantly surprised to learn they secured a 1st floor room, very close to the lobby. Thanks, Super 8!

Room: We found the rooms to be very nice, cozy, with seemingly new, updated decor. Warm hues of red and yellow on the bedspread and window treatments were very nice. Granite countertops in the bathroom! High ceilings with ceiling fans---both which are rare in most standard hotel rooms. Wow! Our room came with flat screen TV, VCR/DVD player, microwave, larger than average fridge, coffee maker. My husband's only complaint was that the room was smaller than average. It was tight for 2 people to fit in the bathroom at the same time. If 1 person was in the shower, the other person had to squeeze around the door and leave the bathroom for that person to get out of the shower.

Other: Breakfast was more than most standard continental hotel offering. It included bacon, eggs, Texas-shaped waffles and the usual cereal, yogurt, juices, Danish/muffins, coffee etc. Small breakfast area but nice with new TV and was clean, well attended/kept-up. The kitchen attendant was in there every 10 min to refill everything and clean up. We were impressed with the free book-swap and affordable DVD rental (current movies) in the hotel lobby. Free cookies, cake and fruit in the hotel lobby at evening-time were a nice touch.

Only problem I had with our stay is that the people in the room next door decided to take advantage of the movie rental---all night long! I woke up at 3 am to the sound of their laughing. At first I thought they were having a party. Awake in bed until maybe 6:30 or 7 am I realized the timed laughter was because they were watching a comedy of some sort. I almost knocked on their door to ask if I could join them or ask what the movie was so I could rent it myself, because I was not getting any sleep anyway! Of course, this was not the hotel's fault. There should be a handbook or something on polite hotel etiquette. Watching movies in your hotel room is fine but not from 3 - 7 am when other guests are sleeping!!

I would return to the Super 8 and recommend it to others. On my next trip I’ll have to bring earplugs in case of inconsiderate hotel guests!
