The Super 8 Austin AIrport, South is a very nice hotel for the budget minded. I reserved two rooms for $76 per night through Priceline for each room for three nights and was extremely pleased with the condition of the hotel, the many amenities in each room, the wonderful helpfulness of the staff and, of course, the frugally low room prices.
The room amenities included hairdryer, coffeemaker, microwave, refrigerator, cable tv, free bottled water and snacks, and hi speed internet access (wifi too). The beds and pillows were comfortable and the shower was hot (minor complaint, the water is very, very soft - so you feel like you still have soap on you after you rinse off). The room I stayed in had two queen beds, desk, chair, lounge chair, nightstand and numerous lamps throughout the room. The furniture was done in an attractive cherrywood stain. My travel companion was very happy with the room she was in, as well.
The free buffet breakfast was pretty standard and the service was very good. When they ran out of food and I brought it to their attention they immediately resupplied the missing item. They also asked if there was anything further they could get me.
When I ran into a problem in the business office when trying to use their printer they immediately helped me with the problem and then checked back to make sure that everything was continuing to work well for me.
They are conveniently located one block south of Hwy 71 so you can get to anywhere in Austin pretty quickly. The closeness to the airport makes it an ideal location if you have to catch an early morning flight.
Also, non-smoking hotel - wonderful for those of us who can't stand the smell of smoke.
The folks running this hotel clearly care about making their customers happy. I highly recommend it.
