“Mmm, grilled game; mmm everything”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 1, 2012

They specialize in grilling meats and specialty sauces but everything is great. The pheasant under glass with tamale filling is the newest thing we've tried but over the years we've had most everything. Our faves are duck breast with seared diver scallops and elk backstrap with espresso rub. Don't forget to try an appetizer or two. I'd do appetizers for the audacity of some that they offer over having a salad (or do BOTH!) The salads are good too but if you worry about getting too full then choose appetizer.
Parking is tight and you might end up driving up a roughly paved hill with poor lighting so my suggestion is that you drop off anyone in heels or balance issues at the door before parking.
Service is fantastic and well trained.

“tried Groupon taster menu”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Lobster bisque had some nice spice to it. Wait staff is very attentive and friendly. Steak and trout was really really great. Although the portions may not seem like very large, but if you are eating a appetizers, main course and desert you will be surprisingly stuffed by the end of your meal. We also saw a wild game meal that another table ordered and that looked great. Just about everything you can hunt in these parts was on the plate. Wine selection is not bad and they do let you take home the bottle if you can't finish it. Save room for desert their turtle dove walnut pie something every chocolate lover NEEDs to try.

“Typically excellent meal”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2012

We both had the 3-course tasting menu, from a 50% off deal. My wife's crispy trout was excellent, and my beef was wonderful. Service was attentive, quick, and unobtrusive, and that's the best I could hope for. Very professional with just a hint of Austin casual. Only one small thing prevented the top rating: I like my beef cooked rare, but what I was served was truly rare, not the medium rare ordered. For me that was not a problem at all, but if the meals had been reversed my wife would have asked for a re-fire.
We've eaten here many times before and always consider this first when considering a fine meal.

“For the Adventurous Gastronome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012

The service is always excellent here. The entrees are unlikely to be hum-drum. Nothing tastes gamey and almost everything I've eaten here is an exotic one-of-kind experience without any sense of pretension.

“Birthday dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2012

First time at this restaurant but it won't be my last! Every dish was fabulous and was served in elegant style by Kevin. The restaurant offers fine dining without being too stuffy. The wine list includes some Texas wines, which is nice to see. Decadent desserts & rich coffee were the icing on the cake for my birthday dinner.
