“Contemporary Environment with good food and drinks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2012

We went to Iron Cactus on Stonelake for a reserved in advance Rehearsal Dinner Buffet & Open Bar at the end of June 2012. The setting is contemporary, the service people were a bit overwhelmed (maybe should have had a few more people working for a reception). I tasted my first "Mexican Martini," and it was GREAT! I LOVE margaritas on the rocks though and the first margarita was EXCELLENT, then the next one, not so good. Perhaps the "premium tequila" limit was exceeded by the group, I don't know... but I didn't drink it, it was QUITE the change, bitter. The buffet line was good, make your own soft tacos. I wasn't impressed with the chips, but perhaps for large receptions they don't provide their usual cuisine. Overall, I would go back and try it again, as a sit down, order a meal experience.

“Another Margarita please?”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2012

oh yeah, and the food is good too. I liked the restaurant in downtown -- roof top dining, people watching....been there three times since January -- always had good service.

“Great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2012 via mobile

Been there twice for weekend trips. Enchiladas were fantastic and the drinks were great. Wish there was more parking but worth walking for.

“Fajitas had no flavor”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2012

I love Fajitas and these had to be the worst I have ever had. They had no flavor, the steak and chicken were chewy, the shrimp was over powering with lime. However the appetizer of Lobster tacos were very good, crab cake appetizer was ok. My husband and son had the pollo relleno and both said that it was very good. Salsa and chips were good. Service was good.

“Went for dessert”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2012

We tried Iron Cactus because we wanted a place close to the hotel that had a decent looking dessert menu. We tried the banana empanadas, the chocolate mousse and the chocolate raspberry torte. All three were yummy. Prior to that we had the tableside guacamole. It was fine. They added onions, jalapenos, cilantro and tomatoes. You have to add your own salt. No garlic was included, and we didn't ask for any. Not sure if it's available if you ask. The restaurant was pretty with a glass fountain in the center of the main dining room. The bar was having disco night. The music was loud, but you could only tell when someone opened the doors to the bar. There was a private party in the adjoining room, and those patrons looked happy. We would be agreeable to trying this restaurant again for a meal.
