Original location in an old victorian house. Colorful inside and quaint. Food and service are very good. Parking has been easy both times we went. Valet available in evening.

“Good & Bad”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2014

Went to Z'Tejas near the Arboretum last night with my parents, who for years had gone here for brunch after church.

The food was still great, & recommend the Ruby Trout, our waiter was excellent, but oh, what a wait for no reason.

They set aside a big table of 16 around 6:00. When we left around 7:15, the 16 person setting was still empty.

This caused 15 to 20 people to have to wait & wait for their table. There's nothing like waiting when there are a number of empty tables. This did not go over well with any of the people who were waiting.

Let's see, 4 tables for 16 people was never used, & the people at the restaurant had to wait & wait & wait.

Not a good experience. Do not plan to return in the near future.

“Great spot for Sunday Brunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014

I had a great Sunday brunch at Z'Tepas. They have a make your own Bloody Mary stand set up on Sunday mornings and I gotta tell you, its one of the best I have ever stood in front of, wait.. the best. Tons of yummy additions to make the perfect Bloody. Food was very good too and nice and fresh. Southwestern grill style Sunday Brunch was a new one for me, but I give it a 8.5 out of 10. I had taco plate and it was quite good. I'd recommend this place to anybody. Super duper.

“Good food, Typical laid back Austin experience.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 1, 2014

Being a chain, I thought average food. But it was quite nice. A converted house is now a small restaurant with bright colors for decorations. However, once seated, the food was the star. We started off with crab cakes with a jalapeno remoulade sauce (could of used a little more sauce) over some tasty type of coleslaw. They bring you a small pan of cornbread with your appetizer. I grew up in San Antonio, so I know what good cornbread is. This blew me away, sweet, moist with bits of corn in it, you didn't even need butter!! My wife had the crispy salmon (I'm not sure why they call it crispy...because it wasn't); however the salmon was cooked perfectly and the veggies served with it were a great compliment. I had the beef fajitas which were average at best. Oh, try the Perfect Patron margarita from the bar. Really well made.

Overall, a good restaurant. Not too expensive, food is pretty decent.

“Good food poor service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2014

Sixth street is always busy but customer service goes a long way. The food tasted great but the service will keep me away.
