If you were in Aistin in the '70's the Armadillo was the musical Mecca of the day. Now fast forward 40 years, the 'dillo is long gone but Threadgill's World Headquarters puts the music nostalgia front and center. We ate lunch there and my wife had Pecan Crusted Chicken with mac and cheese and steamed asparagus, all very good, and I had the grilled talapia topped with pineapple sausa served on a bed of tortilla slivers, San Antonio squash and garlic cheese grits, also all delicious. We ended lunch by splitting a buttermilk pie, something my wife has made for years. We were satisfied with the pie, although it would have been better served warm. Interesting fact, they serve seconds if you want them, but we were stuffed! Threadgill's WHQ is a good trip into the past with good food,, friendly servers, and music at night... Kinda what I remember from AWHQ in the 70's.
