Be aware that this not your Texas barbecue!
Can't say enough POSITIVES about the experience. This WAS a truly dining EXPERIENCE. For those of you searching for a culinary experience like no other in Austin, look no further than Uchi. My daughter (age 26) and I went for Mother's Day this year.
The menu consists of hot (cooked) and cool tastings (raw mostly), sushi and sashimi, makimono, yakimono and tempura, all prepared with the utmost precision and freshest ingredients (tasted spectacular!). The flavors had remarkable depth and textures. Contrast of flavors and textures on the plate created a happy celebration in our mouths.
They have a responsible policy toward sustainability so that was an added plus for us because of what is stand for and how the Uchi owners manage it.
The service was attentive and pleasant, with assistance regarding the menu and choices related to our interests and tasting desires. They assisted us with saki selection also.
The atmosphere was quiet and understated, but very pleasant.
It was a memorable Mother's Day dinner in Austin.
